Kenyan or Janeese?

Those who work in DC politics and are familiar with the behind the scenes activity, know that this city has been saved repeatedly over the last year by the AG, Brian Schwalb, who has been aggressive, creative and fearless in defending the city, while the MOLC worked against him. Schwalb should run for Mayor instead, and bring his attorneys at OAG to staff the MOLC. We would all win in this scenario.

Janeese seems to coordinate well with AG Schwalb, so that might be a reasonable consolidation. Or at least they can be coordinated.
Bowser must spend a lot of their effort on staying out of legal trouble despite being unethical.

100% to both of these PPs. The aggressive enablement and cover up of unethical behavior to avoid exposing the widespread fraud in city leadership is what will get Home Rule taken away. Every last attorney in MOLC needs to go and OAG (not OIG, who reports up to the Mayor) needs all of the resources possible to investigate and clean up all of the fraud and violations that Bowser’s MOLC keeps quiet and will be what hands DC government to Trump.

To the PPs, or others, which candidate is more likely to recognize the need to clean house internally before the Trump admin gets wind?

Kenyan seems to have very thin skin and not care about anyone who's outside of his circle, whatever he defines that as. "Stronghold" is a bunch of BS.

Who cares? A stooge? That's hardly the worst thing in the world.

We've had it with Bowser for years and it sucks. Unless you're in her inner circle. No thanks to more of that.

I think people are referring to the voting for "lesser of two evils" situation. Since both candidates such, which one sucks less in your opinion?

I don't think either sucks, but I am leaning toward Janeese Lewis George. I think we're ready for something new and different and I don't get all the hype here about her being a catastrophe. We can, in fact, do new good things without wrecking the city.

I don't think Kenyan McDuffie has bad political positions, but he sounds so insincere. I don't think he'd actually do anything meaningfully good.

What are you thinking?

I think JLG thinks that every business owner or homeowner is rich. How will you pay for universal child care. I love it, but are you going to raise my taxes in this economy? Why are you so supportive of tenant rights? I want to be empathetic, but I know so many homeowners who rented their homes and got stuck with deadbeat renters and they still have to pay the mortgage. Or small business owners. It's so hard to do business in the city. Why create more red tape and why is it so hard compared to other jurisdictions. Would love to pay more to restaurant workers, but most restaurant owners are not rich so it is very hard to pay these higher wages. I hear her ideas, but what offsets them? How do we get more revenue in the city? How do we get more efficiency in city government. What does she want to do with schools? She's never had a real leadership role and you want to run the city? She is my councilmember and her office is a mess. I just can't.

I get survey requests from Janeese because I am an idiot who donated to her first campaign (what can I say, I hated Brandon Todd). So I can tell you unequivocally that this is the plan. 1) Taxing capital gains at income tax rates, 2) some kind of ephemeral wealth tax on the top 5% of residents in the District (I'm sure the truly wealthy will find ways to shield themselves so this would likely hit the 80-90% bracket), and 3) a 2% tax on all businesses that do any business in the District but aren't already taxed. Those are the options, and they all seem insane to me. The problem with DC is not that they don't generate enough revenue through taxation. It's that it's mismanaged once they've got it in their hands.

Janeese literally cried when she was confronted about the views she gave to the Dem Socialist Party to get their endorsement. If that is not thin skinned I don't know what is.

This is absolutely right. The District raises a lot of money through taxes. I worked in DC government and I can tell you that the City wastes a lot of money. Manage the money we have. We waste a ton of money.

It’s pretty clear that Dem-Sociaist JLG runs with a pretty anti-Semitic crowd.

Your obsession with manufactured BS is so weird. Are you just throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks?

I hope you're not getting paid for this.

Odd that Janeese doesn’t put “Democratic Socialist” on her campaign signs? 🤔

Just cosplaying on the web to get the younger demographic.

It's odd that she isn't putting a party affiliation on her sign that isn't the party whose primary she is running in?

I’m having fun watching all the ways Lewis George and McDuffie are diving the city by identities I didn’t even know you could have.

And Janeese doesn’t care about victims. She’d rather a criminal sit on a couch rather than a cot in jail. No thanks.

I second this as a Ward 4 resident as well. She’s all smoke a mirrors. Wants to show sympathy to criminals when they are running havoc in the city.

I'm a ward 4 resident too, and I've seen her get involved directly to solve things that the mayor wasn't working on. Definitely voting for Janeese.

Another Ward 4 resident and I haven't seen her do ANYTHING. No thanks. She's an amateur.

Do you send your kids to private school? If you've been involved in public school issues you'd see.
