Man, mine didn’t even have a score, just couldn’t crack 1200 on practice tests. TO got in a few ivies full ride. Doing wonderful big things at one of them. |
My URM boy, 1120 score TO, accepted by HYP, chose one of them, just finished the first year. Straight As. |
OMFG. 30 year test prep tutor here. Your kid’s SAT score has absolutely nothing to do with how he/she will do in college or life.
You parents are complete nutters. Spend time talking to them and encouraging them to be interested in life and engaged and trying things. Don’t focus on numbers. Even kids who have bad grades and bad SATs can go to college, and once they’re there they can find things to love and do well at. |
This makes me sad for kids who could actually benefit from elite professors and peers. |
Oh dear. Don’t be sad. Yesterday they said high stats Asian kids should “aim for T150” schools. 150, not 15. |
Do you teach college? I do. And your observation doesnt align with my experience. One of the most important success predictors that I have seen is emotional stability, whether with or without the support of therapy and medication. SAT scores are predictive of certain very specific learning aptitudes, but those are not the only foundation for student achievement. |
As there is no known way to predict or measure "emotional stability", the PP remains correct that "SATs are the only way to really assess a student's ability". |
Yes, SAT is the only reliable measure of ability. Sorry TO moms!!! 😂😂 |
