But that's not what OP's daughter was sharing. Yes, of course everyone should be with someone who shares similar values, but also in a relationship that respects one another's views and opinions that will definitely at some point not fully align.

What's wrong with OP's daughter is her over the top dramatic blanket statements about all men...that she "lost her faith in men" and that "there are no men worth dating". That she's "scared for her future and wants nothing to do with men."

It's a blanket statement against all men. Ridiculous.

Lol. Kinda. But reading through this thread, she has her work cut out for her. She should certainly avoid the arrogant blow hards posting most of the obnoxious answers in this thread.

Good luck honey...you are going to need it based on this thread!

Yes, OPs daughter is going to need luck. OP has managed to cripple her in a way that prevents her from ever attaining a normal, balanced, and meaningful existence. That’s the crime here-the parenting that manages to result in what OP described originally.

Hardly, drama queen. She's 26. She's getting a reality dose of how backwards this country can be, like we all do, and she will adjust. there are plenty of progressive men out there and she will find one.

But the numbers do not work in her favor or in the favor of MAGA professional men.

Oh well. On we go.

I think some young liberal wouldn’t have too much an issue voting for a nice republican man, if his reasons for voting that way were let’s say taxes, spending, or other former priorities for that party. The issue now is that so many leaders of the MAGA movement have made too many comments that should scare women, as a whole, and I am not only talking about abortion.

Who wants to marry somebody who voted for a guy who thinks “grandma day care” should be a solution to child care?

Who wants to date somebody who voted for a person who thinks women’s value are in their looks, and not their skills? All those “central casting” comments come to mind.

Why date a guy who voted for the guy who said his own daughter had nice breasts?

Why date a guy who voted for the guy who hung out with Epstein?

Why date a guy who was OK with voting for they man that thinks you can get away with secual assault because you are a celebrity?

It’s not just about abortion, it’s about the general treatment of women, and young women can open their own doors just fine. They can pay for their own dinners. That is probably not on the list of priorities. They want to be with a man that will treat them with respect, will value their time and contribution to the relationship/family.

Those of you keep assuming all liberal women are angry all the time, have blue hair, and nose rings, get over yourselves. We can easily say all MAGA women have tattoos, weight 300 lbs., are missing teeth, have dry bleached blond hair and cannot read beyond a 6th gr level. Oh, and they also spend what little money they have on piercings.

You can say what you want. But the republican women aren’t crying about being undateable.

College probably indoctrinated her that she's a permanent victim of oppression unless she doesn't get her way 100% of the time.

Try , just for a minute, to consider why a female might be upset that a man who stated he can “grab any women by the pussy” if he feels like it was just elected to lead our nation.

Dozens of women have accused him of sexual assault—including his first wife.

Please search within yourself for an ounce of empathy and try to imagine how that realization might make you feel.

John McCain made most women swoon.
He was a real man, and a Republican.

Signed, a Democrat who owns a cat

Wow, this thread is case in point of why Trump won the election. This country has a very strong (not all but clearly the majority) male dominance problem. When women start earning and not needing men for money, the whole male ego falls apart and has an identity crisis. Get over yourselves and your super fragile egos. Posts in here even pushing down men who believe women are equal to them. How can men get over their identity crisis? Easy… just be a kind human. Crisis solved! IN the meantime, no sympathy at all for your identity crisis. Just wow.

OP- responses in this thread make your post so much more meaningful and true. I hope your DD finds one of the good ones. They’re few and far between but they’re out there. Have her learn strong boundaries.

After America chose a misogynistic rapist to lead our country, she believes there are no men worth dating. She’s scared for her future and wants nothing to do with men. I am trying to convince her that there are supportive kind men out there (including her own father). Can you share examples of young men fighting for women’s rights?

Actually I would encourage her to follow the B4 movement

+politics got really weird in Trump era. If this was a different time period nobody would have cared much if you voted for bush, McCain, or Romney.

You can have an opinion but, you should not be allowed to force your opinion on someone else.

If you don't want an abortion, I support your choice

But you not have the right to say what another person should do with their body.

Anonymous wrote:From OP - daughter is not a “shrew” or a “cat lady” - she is scared. I didn’t reference abortion specifically in my post. She is scared that a misogynistic (grab em by the p*ssy) rapist was elected president again and that men (and women) are OK with that. She is scared that respect for women doesn’t matter in society anymore and this is just the beginning of a downward spiral of women’s rights.

Did you ever stop and consider that many/all of the accusations against Trump were likely fabricated for political reasons? And as far as “grab em,” he specifically said “they let you!” Ie it is an issue with slutty behavior by women as much as anything.

Wrong! If someone as big as Trump attacks you and you are 5'2 what are you going to do to stop him? They let him not because they are 'slutty' but because he is physically bigger than them!

Why date a guy who voted for the candidate who never changed a diaper or bought tampons for their spouses?

Why date a man who voted for the party full of politicians who do not know how the female body works and get to decide what happens to them. Looking at you, congressman who thought a woman could swallow a pill with a camera to see what was going on in her ovaries/uterus, and then got spectacularly called out for that comment!

I could have kept working after kids if childcare were more affordable. No granny childcare for us. The republicans don’t think affordable childcare is a priority. Why date a guy who voted for this party?
