pit bull on a plane

This reminds me of a time my friends grandmother saw someone injecting insulin and complained about drug use and tried to get them kicked out of a restaurant. F***ing idiots.

Even if the dog was so well behaved that you didn't even notice it was there?

We don't necessarily want to hear your children on the plane but, we all have to deal with things we don't want to deal with.

Human beings are different from dogs and you also know that. You're arguments in which you try to equate children with a dangerous dog is ridiculous. We value humans over animals and if that hurts your peta loving feeeewings tfb.

No, they equated your human child with the human with a disability who was handling the service dog. Your ableism is showing.

Wow. It's a lot like that, actually. Someone with no standing to say anything at all talking some ignorant mess that gets in the way of a person with a legitimate medical reason for using/doing the thing in question.

I'm sorry your friend's gran is straight trash like that, PP. What a clown!

It's not about comparing children to dogs, it's about rights of people with disabilities. That dog is medical device like it or not.

We don't know that this was a service dog. People have been abusing the service dog title for decades. When did dog owners become insane?

Based on information provided by OP and overall knowledge about rules re traveling with animals - it is reasonable to assume that dog was indeed a service dog (most airline tightened rules around emotional support animals, and large dogs were never allowed in the passenger area to begin with).

When did pitbull haters lose common sense???

Your question implies they had it to begin with Ccommon sense isn't so common these days, and anyone who categorically hates an entire breed based on hearsay and bias isn't exactly smart. Their entire point (all pit bulls are evil because of some stories I heard/read) rests on a startling lack of intellectual ability. "This thing is not that" is an elementary school lesson, and yet this whole thread exists. Here's a pit bull being perfectly well-behaved, and it's never enough for the haters.

Hah total trash honestly. She's long gone now. But yeah, really reminding me of this thread. "How dare someone with disabilities exist around me!"

But we don't know that it wasn't. It was well behaved though!

This ability to hold on was bred into them, both purposefully by breeders and unintentionally, as the dogs that held on would survive longer.

Pit bulls are also noted for being very stubborn and strong; this, combined with their breed purpose, makes it difficult to shake a pit bull off. While other dog breeds may bite and let go, a pit bull is likelier to try and hold on.

They all know this. Everyone knows this. The pitt lobby does not care. There is no reason and yet here they are trying to make other posters out to be the crazies. It's absolute stubborn stupidity.

It's PIT Bull lobby ( one T) and the people trying to convince us that WE are crazy are you. Since the dog behaved so beautifully the op didn't know he was there.

Sadly it will take an attack and a big lawsuit for the airlines to ban them. It’s hard to believe that they allowed a pitbull but I guess if they didn’t have a policy for it then there wasn’t anything the staff could do, even if they were smart enough to realize that it was a really bad idea.

Unless you're an utter moron, one attack from one dog doesn't justify the ridiculousness of a breed ban.

If it did, lab/pointer mixes might be first on the list: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-48458271

I didn't realize until we deplaned, but it got me wondering what would have happened had it snapped in a small, enclosed space. Any advice in case this happens in the future? I was rather shocked Delta allowed it.

OP, you're a confirmed troll, or just too stupid to know what a pit mix looks like. Delta already has a pit bull ban in place, and has since 2018: https://people.com/pets/delta-airlines-bans-pit-bull-service-dogs/

But the DoT said they can't ban them as service animals: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/transportation-department-rejects-delta-pit-bull-ban_n_5d4c7acee4b0066eb70ed738

So if, in fact, you did see an otherwise silent, well-behaved pit bull-looking dog, it was a service animal doing its job (and well).

Entitled owners with their Yorkies (yorkipoos?) running loose are probably a bigger threat to a happy flight:

Or some mediocre white guy putting his hands on a(nother) legitimate service dog, because he's got the same "I don't like it, so you can't have it" mentality as OP.
