Columbia, the 2nd weakest Ivy!

I thought Columbia was caught lying about some of their data?

So Barnard students shouldn’t consider themselves part of the Columbia student body but Columbia students should consider Barnard students part of Columbia? Right. Gotcha. Crystal clear.

FWIW, Barnard IS an official college of Columbia. It’s not some loose affiliation. This may offend the notions of some on here who think they know the exact pecking order of universities in this country, but it’s just a fact.

Why not use one name then?

OP

Barnard is an affiliate. They have to pay annually to Columbia for it.

It's in Columbia's official documents. You can search for it. They paid a few millions per year. When I have time, I can find the document for you.

I don’t see anything to support your claims

Just in case this link hasn't been posted:
https://www.columbia.edu/content/academics/schools

Note, Columbia College, SEAS (Fu School of Engineering), GS, and Barnard are all listed, as well as the various graduate schools.

Barnard is an affiliate, so it's listed here so people can get redirected to its website.

Yes. It clearly lists several affiliated schools at the bottom of the page.

NOTE that Columbia college, SEAS, the med school, the grad schools, are all listed at the very bottom in blue as "schools" of Columbia. Barnard is listed in a different section as an "affiliate school".

Barnard is affiliated with but is not a full school of Columbia. Hence, it is not the same as Columbia.

Barnard chose to be an “affiliate” grater than. Subsidiary organization so they can continue to be independent and not be shut down as for example, was the case with Radcliffe.

Correction: “ rather than a subsidiary organization”
