And pro-bike people are selfish self absorbed jerks who act like scofflaws in traffic and care only for their interests of being able to ride wherever they want. (Put nicely) |
The problem with your logic is that in no way would these bike lanes ever be “safe”. A few inches of concrete are not going to stop a car traveling at 25+ MPH, let alone the many trucks that use this road. The city should not be supporting a project that would induce hundreds/thousands of new riders on this road. Anyone who allowed their kid to ride in these bike lanes needs their heads examined. |
DP and you're right I'll just stick to the road. As a driver please resist the urge to drive like a complete a hole tearing down ct ave and honking at every biker in "your" way. Otherwise, you'll have problems. |
+a MILLION I drive OGR at least 4 times a day from lone oak down to huntington pkwy. My morning drive is around 7:50 am, with another trip back and forth around 11:30-12:30, then back north again at 4:30. Probably 75% of the time I don’t see a single cyclist in the bike lanes. NOT. ONE. |
Kids have been walking the .5 mile down Macomb Street to Eaton just fine for 114 years. The school is bursting at the seems. So it appears to be working just fine. Now, if you put those bike lanes in you get 2000 more cars/day whizzing by little Larla. Now THAT would be dangerous. |
Agreed. Caring about the local environment, climate change, and public health is the absolute height of selfishness. |
Please. No amount of data, logic, common sense, or playing nice will ever convince people like you. Because you are an angry, bitter, unintelligent excuse for a person. |
I think 13:23 poster proved this point quite well. Some real scary people out there |
Try looking up from your phone. Thanks. |
This is the unfortunate reality of option C and why it wasn't a good solution. We know far too much about how to do things right to do things wrong like this. If you want kids and casuals to ride on CT, you would need a track with at least 3 feet of separation from moving vehicles. That would mean at least one lane lost, and that just wasn't going to happen any time soon. CT should be the capstone of W3 biking, not the foundation stone. Build out safe routes to schools and parks first and build a critical mass. Then you can take on the MD commuters. |
There are bike lanes near me that I've never, ever seen even a single person use. |
We should be glad you put your kids' lives in danger? I drive and I assume sooner or later I will be in an accident because statistics. Just like I assume that, because I live in a city, I will be mugged sooner or later. Bicyclists should assume they will get hit by a car sooner or later for the same reason. |
I don’t drive it as frequently as you (just weekends occasionally for me) but I see someone using these bike lanes maybe once out of every 50 trips. |
This is so funny. One of the main counterpoints to community opposition was that the ANCs voted for it (like that was meaningful). I think it’s perfectly legitimate to laugh at those middle finger people for a long, long time. Lesson learned here is that if you want to build support for something in your neighborhood, don’t be an obnoxious a-hole to your neighbors. |
How is forcing cyclists to use the sidewalk making it safer for pedestrians? |
