This is so false. Kids would ride if it were safe. It isn't because they are forced to ride on Ct Ave (during rush hour when they are coming to and from school) so suggesting parents only want to drop the off rather than having their autonomy, is simply wrong. Our built environment is not conducive to kids being able to ride safely for many of their daily tasks including going to school. It is a far cry from the world most of us grew up in, in that sense. |
+1 Anti-bike people are short-sighted idiots, to put it nicely. |
Probably no better advocates against bike lanes and the bike lane advocates. Please keep doing more of what you’re doing. There will likely be several more policy victories, like removing already installed bike lanes. |
Making a city activitely more hostile to bikers and pedestrians is not a “victory.” It’s actually pathetic. |

If that’s not your goal, maybe you should try to change your approach. Because all you’ve done through your current behavior of name calling and histrionics is to alienate people. |
DP, but histrionics are claiming that such changes are going to spell DOOM to the neighborhood. People said closing the slip lane in Cleveland Park would be the end of things, and yet, the stores there are thriving and the new "promenade" is busy at all hours of the day and night.
Bike lanes would do the same thing. Cars do not shop, people do. And the people driving those cars are mostly going to Maryland, not stopping off at one of the commercial areas to shop. Bikers on the other hand, are right there as ready customers and the studies show that adding bike lanes are generally good for businesses. |
They are making it more safe for pedestrians. Pedestrian interests and cyclist interests are not the same. |
the histrionics were quite on one side. I’ve been through this rodeo more than once. |
that’s right. I’m old enough to remember when people acted like a citibike doc on a totally unused asphalt triangle park spelled doom. city just put the doc on an identical triangle half a block away and … amazing, no doom! |
DP: I agree that they are not the same. This plan is going to push more bikes onto sidewalks, negatively impacting the pedestrian experience |

This. I hate riding on sidewalks and always feel sheepish about it. No more. |
they literally are the same |
Just resist the urge to ride like a complete a-hole and it will be just fine. But if you insist on tearing down the sidewalk like a spandex clad cheetah screeching at everyone in “your” way, then you’re going to have problems. |
