Seems like there is room for Dulles South to stay strong. Several Pride Red 2027s and VA Metro on their 7/8 Rec team who won the championship last year. Clubs seem supportive of girls continuing to play with their rec teams. Why can't that continue? Where it gets challenging is if girls also play for their private schools--3 teams is a bit much. |
I believe we would have to settle that on the field. Atlee vs Madison would be interesting. In general, the larger schools have the best teams, especially when you are looking at field sports. Does anyone really believe that a 4A or 5A football team could have beaten Freedom (Woodbridge) last year...? What about for girls lacrosse? Any 4 or 5A teams better than Oakton was? Probably not. In any case, when is a Loudon Co girls lacrosse team going to compete at the state championship level? |
If the girls lax dad’s could quit hijacking every post it would be nice. I posted about DS and have no clue about the girls side this thread has become really hard to follow. Was any of the comments prior related to boys or girls? FYI pride seems crazy to have a coach arrested? And I thought some boys clubs were crazy. |
Stone Bridge played Freedom the closest last year (a 5A team). Western Albermarle beat Dominion in the 4A state finals (the same Dominion team that smoked Riverside and Independence during the regular season). They could beat Oakton. |
New HCs at Indy and BW so let's see how that plays out (Riverside has a huge edge there from a consistency/culture perspective) |
This thread, which does not belong to you, is now about girls lacrosse. Sorry about that. Probably best to start a new thread. |
Yes, very true and I’ll not argue that point at all. RVHS has the edge in coaching, by a long shot, at this point. The only thing I will say is most of the IHS players have been playing together for years, really 2/3 of their young lives. So there is internal chemistry with the boys. The good news is that there should be 3 very strong Class 5 teams in LoCo in the near future and some good matchups to watch. |
Thanks for engaging. I have to challenge though. You are saying a 4A team that I've never heard of, was better than the 6A state champ with multiple top 20 D1 recruits? A team that beat Saint Stephens St Agnes and only lost to Madison all year (twice). That seems unlikely. And Stone Bridge plays good football for sure. And they still couldn't beat the 6A champ (or last year's 6A runner up a few weeks ago). |

2025 LoCo boys commits so far?
Saw that there was a BWHS -> VMI on Instagram. Any additional at this point? |
Lolol! Because they have the largest footprint. So you have any awareness of how many schools feed into the DS program? Have you any awareness of how much development has gone on in that area over the last decade? The program isn’t exactly great, they just have huge numbers. NVYL needs to break them in two or split some schools into Chantilly and Ashburn. |
Dulles South is a joke, what have the high schools that dulles south players feed into done. Nothing! |
Dulles South has been the fastest growing rec league in the area by far. They have taught and coached thousands boys and girls the game one of them my DS since 3rd grade who is now playing in HS and loves the game. The amount of hours these parents give to the program is countless. It is one of the best run rec leagues and for boys and girls in the Dulles South area. Do they have issues of course they do. Do they have politics yes they do. But in the end it has been a very positive experience and at some point boys and girls need to move on from rec and end up in clubs all across the area. I know other rec leagues in the NVYLL outside of Vienna many are just holding on which is hard and agree that club has really made an impact on the survival of rec leagues. So, Thank YOU to all Dulles South volunteers for continuing to grow the game and teaching it to my DS. |
Wow! It is just a rec team... I agree that many of the Loudoun High Schools are working with what they have and a good amount of better players in the area roll the dice and try to be a starter at PVI. But, I do know some of the HS Lacrosse coaches that are great people and are trying their best to make something work. |
Everybody with Dulles South thinks they can roll into PVI and play. Too many kids think that! Plenty of Public Schools in the county that have great coaches if the kids would give it a chance (Riverside, Champe, Indy, Freedom). |
Agreed |
