Broad Run, Independence and Dominion were dominate. I could see all of them beating Riverside this year (who couldn't even field a team in the VEL). Cant wait for the spring!

Not sure, but Indy does have a new coach that went behind the back of the previous coach and got the parents to complain to get the previous coach fired so that he could slide in and get the job. So, that probably means they will do great this year.

So, it was an insurrection? Pretty sad that if parents complain they can that much influence in removing a coach.... Anyone know details here?

the first division listed on the VEL website is "Black," and includes the following eight teams, who finished, in this order: PVI, Langley, Robinson, Madison, Yorktown, Battlefield, Patriot, Oakton. Indy was in the next division called "Blue" and they dominated that division (other than losing to Broad Run) with the most goals scored and the highest goal diff of any team in all of VEL. so i am assuming that Black is the best division, and that rather than play those teams, Indy was sandbagging in the next division down - right??

"good" is a relative term. From what I heard Riverside did not do Vel as there was not a division with good teams

Not a Riverside parent, but this is laughable! BR and Indy have not even come close to RHS in the past few years. Dominion HAD some teams that could, but those days are long past. If you can see all three beating RSH, you need to get your eyes checked! The closest team to them at this point is BWHS and maybe Freedom.

Sure is. This particular dad can't help himself. Has been doing classless things like this all the way up from rec lacrosse, thru his son's VLC team and now taking over at Indy. Coaches, refs, parents all are tired of this guy's behavior. Curious to see how this reputation he has built works out at Indy. Not many will be rooting for him.

Does anyone know the reason given to the previous coach for being fired?

We are now at a rival school, but spoke to an Indy parent and former teammate from Dulles rec about all of this. It sounded like the previous coach's contract was not renewed and he was not fired? I don't know enough about how HS coaches get and keep jobs to comment further.

What I do know is that I got an ear full about the whole situation and many people over there are not happy with what's going on! I don't want to spread rumors but if what I hear is true---> whoa!

That's too bad. The previous coach was the original Indy coach and built that team. They seemed to progress nicely each year, so not sure why the parents would have wanted him out.
