I've heard the freshmen boys class at PVI this year is pretty thin. They could use a few more talented players.

Correct, the 2027 lacrosse class at PVI is practically non existent. But the new coach is recruiting 2028s and 2029s like crazy and he’s going after 2027 and 2026 transfers. The 3-4 top Indy players are prime candidates.

I am sure they could get more kids if they offered some type of discount. But we all know that would not happen.

From what I saw last year the top 3-4 or even 5-7 Indy players are not 2026s and any 2027 is a JV player at PVI.

PVI is a different level from what? They have never won the WCAC. Always under achieving.

From what I understand, last year, PVI won the state championship and lost in the WCAC championship game. Hard to claim that is under achieving.

Anything impressive for Loudoun County our of the VEL fall league? Players and/or teams?

Broad Run, Independence and Dominion were dominate. I could see all of them beating Riverside this year (who couldn't even field a team in the VEL). Cant wait for the spring!

Did Indy play in the same division as the good teams?

the first division listed on the VEL website is "Black," and includes the following eight teams, who finished, in this order: PVI, Langley, Robinson, Madison, Yorktown, Battlefield, Patriot, Oakton. Indy was in the next division called "Blue" and they dominated that division (other than losing to Broad Run) with the most goals scored and the highest goal diff of any team in all of VEL. so i am assuming that Black is the best division, and that rather than play those teams, Indy was sandbagging in the next division down - right??

"good" is a relative term. From what I heard Riverside did not do Vel as there was not a division with good teams

LOL, Riverside is too good to play PVI, Robinson and Madison?

I doubt that is the reason Riverside didn't play in the VEL. They must have some type of plan, and whatever they do seems to work for them...

Riverside usually plays in VEL. I don't know why they didn't this year, but PVI at least would beat them. I think Riverside plays Madison first game of the year this season so we will see how those two teams stack up.

Wow! Would be awesome to see a big crowd in Vienna that night. Good for those two schools deciding to play, great for NOVA lacrosse.

This is a problem for the new coach. Parents are not going to want to send kids there until they see what the new coach can do through this year.

Not having a coach for the short time really made families look at other options.

Would families that live in Loudoun go around the beltway to St. John’s, Gonzaga, etc. if PVI was just middle of the pack? That’s a lot of work and PVI would still be a solid program if not at the very top.

Not really a problem. New coach has ton of experience at all levels (youth , HS, college, national) and there isn’t much to “wait and see”. Anyone who is on the fence isn’t going to apply anyway because the admission process requires people to have started the process already.

Then I guess 2027 is just an off year for lacrosse

You already have Loudoun families driving around the beltway for their Club teams. So there is always a possibility.

This is true, but going to a school means every day drop-off and pick-up. I can see that getting old quick unless there is a carpool in place. Club is a couple times a week.
