You’re just going to dig your heels in, aren’t you? |
Skeptical of this. Which libraries? How many copies, and of which books? Is there evidence of the book actually being ordered by school librarians, and cataloged in the school library's card catalog, or was it planted there? I saw nothing to conclusively prove anything other than that the books exist. |
You're going to dig your heels in for a fake news site? |
Do you honestly think they faked those pictures? Or pulled them from a different site? And what makes it fake news? |
I have to call into question YOUR intelligence and critical thinking skills, because you are taking it on faith, without adequate evidence, that the book is widespread in school libraries all across America. I have NOT seen actual evidence that they were actually found in Florida or Iowa libraries, that evidence falls woefully short. Again, I'm not disputing that the books exist, I need to see more evidence that the books were actually ordered by school librarians, cataloged in their card catalogs, and that their presence was widespread across a multitude of schools. The evidence for THAT does not exist. All you have is claims - as though we're supposed to believe right wing activists on their word. |
Don't be obtuse. Nobody ever said the pictures themselves were "fake." What's being questioned is the lack of actual evidence that the book was ordered by and cataloged in school libraries all across Iowa. The article provides exactly zero proof of that. |
It literally has pictures from this book - pictures that have also been all over the internet before. Have you been living under a rock? |
Wow. Their Iowa Standard front page carries no less than 8 headlines peddling hysteria over trans issues. And a half dozen more about homosexuality and gay marriage. They are a bit obsessed. |
DP. Here, hon. The NYT wasn't brave enough to post the pictures, but they allude to them in this article: "Many of the book’s critics seized on a handful of explicit images that illustrate Kobabe’s evolving understanding of gender and sexuality as a teenager and young adult, including a drawing of Kobabe and a girlfriend experimenting with a strap-on sex toy, and another of Kobabe fantasizing about two men having sex." https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/01/books/maia-kobabe-gender-queer-book-ban.html |
Yeah so what. For the 4th time, nobody has denied the book existed. Now prove that this book was actually widespread across libraries as claimed. How many libraries had it? Did they actually purchase copies of it and log it in their book catalog? Or did some activist just plant a copy there? I see no evidence to prove it either way. |
Wow. You are REALLY SLOW to understand what's being said here. Either that or willfully obtuse to the most ludicrous level imaginable. Now, for the FIFTH time, nobody has denied the book existed. Now prove that this book was actually ordered and stocked by school librarians in a widespread manner as claimed. |
So Youngkin has banned a book that no library has ordered? I don't see a problem then. |
+1 In the face of proof that these pornographic images are indeed in Gender Queer (and other books), the poster is now moving the goalposts to demand a different source. Too bad the WaPo and NYT - two sources I'm sure the PP would approve of - don't have the guts to display these pictures. |
Nice trolling. Now that you've been painted into a corner, you're moving those goalposts. We see you. |
I guess your googling skills are really poor. And you also appear to have zero access to the news. I'm done doing your research for you. Then, last year, the book’s frank grappling with gender identity and sexuality began generating headlines around the country. Dozens of schools pulled it from library shelves. Republican officials in North and South Carolina, Texas and Virginia called for the book’s removal, sometimes labeling it “pornographic.” The award brought “Gender Queer” to the attention of librarians across the country, who often look to such prizes when deciding what books to order. High schools and some middle school libraries around the country began stocking it. Currently, on Amazon, it’s listed as appropriate for ages 18 and up; on Barnes & Noble’s website, it’s recommended for readers 15 and older. The book was banned in dozens of school districts and removed from libraries across the country, including Alaska, Iowa, Texas and Pennsylvania. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/01/books/maia-kobabe-gender-queer-book-ban.html |
