Graph depictions of how to how have anal sex is not ok for school children at school. Sorry, OP.

If you choose to instruct your children about that, it can certainly be done in your home. No one cares.

I dispute your premise. This doesn’t exist in school materials and you know it.

Sorry, Snopes tells us it’s true - https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/tampa-school-sex-book/

According to Snopes, the book says:

This chapter is about sex. Therefore it has sex in it. WELL, DUH. If you are a younger reader and you feel you aren't ready for the finer details of same-sex pairings, then simply skip this whole chapter.

HOWEVER, before you do, I'd like to remind you that we taught you all about straight sex when you were ELEVEN YEARS OLD during sixth grade. The fact that they didn't also teach you what same-sex couples do is nothing less than institutionalized homophobia. Straight sex was presented as the norm to make five percent of the population feel abnormal. Is there something icky about gay sex? Is there something wrong with it? I challenge any politician to discuss this with me. I WILL RUIN THEM.

This chapter is simply all the stuff teachers SHOULD be saying if they want to be inclusive of people with same-sex feelings.

Of course, I'm guessing that in Florida, the schools also no longer are allowed to teach about what non-gay people may or may not do in the sheets. Because if the schools don't teach children and teenagers about what people do in the sheets, they just won't do it, right?

What exactly is wrong about teaching about gay sex?

Truthfully, at what age are these books appropriate for YOUR children?

We aren’t talking about “porno books” so your comment is irrelevant.

Sadly we are. I genuinely don’t understand why some people are pushing for books that depict sex acts to be in our school libraries but they are. When you go against community standards, don’t be surprised when the community pushes back.

Like the Bible. Also, Shakespeare.

The Bible doesn’t have graphic drawings of how to suck cock or have anal.

Kids learn about heterosexual sex at school. What’s wrong with gay sex?

Anonymous wrote:We teach kids about heterosexual sex so that they understand reproduction and how to prevent it for themselves as teenagers. Parents aren’t asking schools to teach their kids to masterbate, perform blowjobs, or participate in anal sex. These subjects do not belong in schools.

If you want to share that information with your children, go right ahead. But it doesn’t belong in the school system.

Parents who? I'm a parent, and I support comprehensive sex ed/family life ed in schools. Just like I support science ed, math ed, reading ed, phys ed, etc.

Meh. Sounds very clinical. And the book makes a point — we tell children how to have heterosexual sex. Why is it wrong to clinically explain gay sex? Especially if the point is to protect children from harm?

In what world do we explain heterosexual sex to 11 year olds? If that is what is going on in public schools, that is wrong too.

It is not clinical. You can view the pages if you watch the DeSantis clip. It’s vile.

Family Life Education, dude. There is a whole curriculum. There are pictures, even.

And yes, we need our schools to teach these things. Can’t leave it to adults like you to do it. You will give bad information. That much is crystal clear.

We teach kids about heterosexual sex to prevent pregnancy. That’s not a concern with gay sex.

The problem is that extreme examples are used now to gain support for the bill, but once passed, it allows banning books that aren’t extreme and just represent views Youngkin doesn’t like.

Exactly. That’s the problem with putting books like Gender Queer and This Book is Gay in school libraries. If parents can’t trust their schools to keep this material out of their schools, they will ask their lawmakers to do it. And that creates bad law. It shouldn’t be happening, but the people defending this material have created the opening.

Alternatively, the problem is people who believe that libraries should only contain books that they, personally, approve of. And if libraries contain books that they disapprove of, they will stop their feet and pitch fits and disrupt meetings and demand that libraries be transformed to reflect their personal opinions, or if not, be shut down.

I, personally, can't stand books by John Steinbeck, but I'm not asking libraries to remove Steinbeck books from the shelves, and I'm certainly not asking lawmakers to require libraries to do so.

And your vision of the purpose of teaching kids about sex in schools?

Agreed. I support free speech but I don’t support the government providing sexually explicit material to children.

Why is taxpayer money even going to pay for these books in schools?

I hate baseball. Why does taxpayer money pay for so many books about baseball?!

Why is taxpayer money going to pay for any books? Or schools, or libraries, or anything? Why even have taxes? Why even have a government?
