For a decade police reform advocates have pushed for police bodycams for accountability. But if I am understanding you, in this case its better not to release them because it will lead to "another bogus allegation"?

First of all- the footage would literally show whether the accusation has merit or not. There is no good argument not to release it.

Btw I think it is also really telling that the FOP has not demanded to release the footage. They know it would show them to be liars. Instead they have other people insinuate things they themselves did not accuse her of, to make it sound like she is trying to hide something.
