I agree. I think they may have once been a status symbol but they are so common the design is everywhere. Rich people easily afford it, MC people stretch their budget so they can have the extremely popular luxury item, poor people buy one of the many replicas that are sold everywhere. It’s not ugly but it’s the neverfull of jewelry |
That may be, but it doesn't really matter. I don't want to wear something that everyone else is wearing, especially if so many are knock-offs--and if young teens are wearing them. Although I will say this was a really pricey nail salon and these girls looked like their parents might have money, so it's very possible they were wearing real ones. |
Do you live in the DC area? Then you live in an affluent area. For example - my kids go to a Title I school, but one of my neighbors lives in a $2 Million new build and wears one of these. Most of the houses on our street are pretty shitty, frankly. I wouldn't describe it as an affluent area, LOL! |
| I guarantee half of the women in DC with one of these got it from Miss Chen/RepLadies. |
Probably. You can buy a solid gold exact replica for 1000 or a shitty gold plated copy on Amazon. In any case, they all look the same imo and it detracts from the real thing looking like a special piece. So generic at this point |
If you know...you KNOW.

+1 I had never even heard of Elizabeth Locke or Temple St. Claire so I investigated. Pretty pieces, outrageously expensive - and nothing I would ever covet. Give me a Cartier tank too!! |
| It's a shackle. An expensive shackle. But a shackle. |
| They're pretty, but look so uncomfortable to sleep in. Not being able to (easily) remove them would be the dealbreaker for me. |
| I don't get it, why not just buy a normal solid gold bangle? I like taking my jewelry off! |
Because then people won't know how much you spent. That is why people buy them. The end. |
Sorry but no you cannot! An ounce of gold is currently sitting at $1700 and these weigh more than that. Unlike a lot of jewelry the solid gold actually has inherent value. |
I’m petite with little wrists. I can’t stand how bangles hit everything. My Cartier bracelet is much tighter (because it screws on instead of going over your wrist) and I love that. It’s easy to wear. Other bracelets that have clasps are always breaking on me. |
So you could get a good replica for under $4000 because Asian sellers sell based on weight - a Love bracelet is approx 35oz. |
Sorry I screwed up the math. 35 grams, which is 1.3 oz, so under $3000. |
