Very sad.

Since she is intubated and dying, I don't think she is "claiming" anything.

Very sad for her two children, one of whom is only 13. Very sorry for her that she didn’t get treatment, bad way to go.

Awful.

It IS very sad.

And so is driving a vehicle under the influence of cocaine. How fortunate that no innocent people were killed or seriously injured.

It IS very sad that we don’t take mental heath issues seriously and because of that our societal Karma is that our live and our children s lives and our communities’ lives are in danger.

While I agree 100% that our country is dismal in its support of mental health issues, someone with the financial resources that she had certainly had many, many options available to her. I understand that she was most likely self-medicating with alcohol and other drugs. I also believe that she could have had access to top-notch mental health care that is not accessible for 99% of the people who suffer with mental illness.

Tragic ending.

That’s the point. We are so abysmal at our understanding and treatment of the mentally ill we can’t even help the richest person with all resources at their disposal.

I think that is exactly what the universe wants us to understand… but we will still do nothing to fix it.

I work at a mental health facility. There is no easy fix.

I feel bad for HER. She grew up in a toxic environment. No amount of money or fame can cure you from the past. May she get peace.

I can't imagine that most of her organs are usable. Her lungs are gone, her kidneys and liver I would imagine are not donation-worthy, perhaps her eyes?

I don't think people understand how complicated mental health is legally. She has rights which include rejecting mental health treatment or refusing to follow through. You cannot force anyone to do what they need to do to remain mentally healthy. You cannot force them to show up to therapy unless court mandated and that rarely workouts well. You cannot force them to stay on medication.

Look at Brittany Spears. The world thought her father was a tyrant. Now she is free of her conservatorship and posting naked photos and possibly doing drugs and making poor decision after poor decision and going down the road that could end in estrangement from her sons. She has free will and cannot be forced to get help.

I work at a mental health facility. There is no easy fix.

Anonymous wrote:Why is this even news? Anne Heche hasn't acted in years. She's no longer celebrity status. Yes, it is sad that her life ended this way and she essentially ruined another person's house and possessions along with it, but I'm surprised by how much attention this is getting.

This is enough for me to give post some attention even though I don't think I have ever seen any of her work. I would do the same for any other person.

Sure, if money and fame are your only measures. By any other measure she seemed to have been -100. Miserable person who suffered in life and now is suffering in death.

RE: why is this getting attention, since she wasn't acting in years -- I hope it gets LOADS of attention. Maybe if drunk drivers realize they could put their own bodies through hell instead of just risking the lives of others, which doesn't seem to bother them, they might think twice before getting behind the wheel of a car under the influence. I hope pictures of her own destroyed body are posted online for all to see and learn from.

Drunk drivers are seemingly unstoppable. Maybe this will help.

That felt wrong to post. The tissue damage might be useful to study.
