You think masks aren’t good for kids because it bothers you.

It impacts socialization. My child is going into a new school and I don't want her dealing with not being to read social cues. Masking absolutely harms socialization, especially for new students.

You don’t know that and it’s something you’ve made it or some nonsense you heard.

Our school never tells anyone anything until the last minute and then are never available for anything - on tests, issues, curriculum, protocol.

GDS?

Definitely. NP. Makes it seem like there’s always turmoil behind the scenes. And right in front.

It's neither. It's common sense. I experienced myself when everyone was masking. You can't tell if someone is smiling or frowning. It is unhealthy psychologically. I don't need an article or study to tell me that.

No, I'm pretty certain that research supports the position that masks are harmful to kids at this point.

PP here, back with an example. Here is an excerpt of an article published by NPR:

Masks can interfere with young children's brain development

Numerous scientific papers have established that it can be harder to hear and understand speech and identify facial expressions and emotions when people are wearing masks. (Some of these studies also suggest workarounds, which many practitioners are using).

These are critical developmental tasks, particularly for children in the first three years of life.

The United States is an outlier in recommending masks from the age of 2 years old. The World Health Organization does not recommend masks for children under age 5, while the European equivalent of the CDC doesn't recommend them for children under age 12.

Manfred Spitzer is a psychiatrist and a cognitive neuroscientist in Germany.

He published a scientific review of evidence on how masking could impact children's development.

Spitzer says the negatives of masking are particularly clear for very young children. He believes that young children's caregivers should be unmasked as well.

"Kids need to train up their face recognition," he says, and they need to see full faces to learn to identify emotions as well as to learn language. "Babies were never designed just to see the upper half of the face and to infer the lower half; even adults have a hard time doing this."

You're the one pulling things out of your ass, and it's based on you clinging to COVID-19 hysteria. Here's a tip: we all had to suffer through an insane overreaction to COVID-19 because the media and Democratic politicians overhyped the threat to the general population as part of their overall strategy to damage Donald Trump and the GOP. Well, Donald Trump lost, so now you can stop inflicting the damage. Thank you.

Yup pulled it right out of my ass, but hey! Looks like I had some pretty good insights based on the data.

Schools with mandates are not following the science. Shame. And to force kids. Really disappointed and we are leaving our school who is mentioned in this thread. They are playing politics and not following the latest data. Like other people said leave.

Overreaction? The whole world shut down.

Some of us can’t do this. We got told of the policy to late. I want to see data why my 8 year old who has had covid needs a vaccine that does not stop transmission or infection. Our school says sorry that’s the policy. That’s it. I hope schools are seeing what colleges are doing many have dropped booster mandate because guess what it’s not needed for that age group. This is all insane.
