Hope that is not why she is pissed

The whole thing is just vulgar. Vulgar consumption. Vulgar exhibitionism.

Least faves: Kim K (looks horrible blonde), SJP

I was really not a fan of Emma Stone’s outfit. It seemed out of place.

Anonymous wrote:Regardless of whether she looked AS GOOD as marilyn I think she looked great and was SO on theme. What an awesome dress to be able to wear. The fact that she had to have a preservationist walk with her is proof. That is how you do the met gala right there!

Disagree. The dress is very blah on her without knowledge of why the dress is significant it’s just a sequined gold thing. And how is it on theme? She also looks incredibly washed out with the hair. I think this is one of her worst met gala looks.

The theme generally is American gilded glamour. Yes the specific time period referenced is 1870-1900 but you can take on different interpretations of theme and anything 'american' really hits it. Wearing a dress so famous as to be an American historical artifact that literally shimmers is on point thematically. The hair is clearly a nod to Marilyn. I mean you are trash talking one of the most famous dresses of all time calling it a blah dress. It isn't always about looking great (although I think she does honestly and think the only people who don't think that just hate her on principal) but about getting your references down. Going platinum blonde is getting your reference down.

A+ for her well formatted footnote, B- otherwise

If that is your takeaway, then the participants nailed the assignment.

No. PP said that the MM dress looks blah on Kim, and it does.
You must be joking about going platinum blonde, because that "reference" is really weak and doesn't translate.

Overall, it's a pretentious attempt with an underwhelming result and a huge stretch in following the theme.

The reference of dying your hair platinum blonde while referencing marilyn monroe is a weak reference?????? What? The woman is a FAMOUS platinum blonde? I feel like you all are stretching. Dying ones hair platinum blonde while referencing MM is more 'too on the nose' than it is 'really weak and doesn't translate' if it is anything.

NP. It doesn’t look platinum, it just looks washed out. It didn’t translate. It’s okay. Are you her stylist or something?

I'm not her stylist or even a fan. I just think you are making no sense.

I liked Jodie Turner-Smith's and Joshua Jackson's outfits and thought they looked great together. Dating myself, but I am ready to cast Pacey in season 2 of the gilded age.

We're telling you that she didn't look that good. Her idea was good, her execution was lacking. It led to a normally very striking woman looking strangely blah. What don't you understand about that?

Sure, yes, nods to MM - whatever! The point is to get there and look striking. She didn't.

She changed into a replica after her entry. It was on loan from Ripley's Believe or Not museum who purchased it in 2016--cost $4.8 million.

16 pounds in three weeks!

Yep. Insanity!!

Notice that Kim no longer has an enormous rear end? She must have had butt implants removed or fat dissolved. I guess Big butts are not longer on trend

That is not what you said. You said this:

You must be joking about going platinum blonde, because that "reference" is really weak and doesn't translate.

It doesn’t look platinum

I'm not arguing with you about whether she looked great. I think that is totally a matter of subjective opinion. I just think it seems like you are determined to find universal and nonsensical fault. Say it is underwhelming, fine, but she wore the actual dress MM wore, which is an american historical artifact, and regardless of your thoughts of the dye job, she dyed her hair a clear homage to MM. You can say it didn't look good! Fine! But it wasn't unclear or weak, and I'm not sure how wearing the ACTUAL DRESS could 'not translate'. I'm just saying regardless of how well you think the execution is, she was clearly executing the theme, and you are like, weirdly offended I think you are making no sense. But you are making no sense calling a platinum dye job a 'weak' reference to MM.

K. Michelle had her BBL removed in 2017.
