Disagree. The dress is very blah on her without knowledge of why the dress is significant it’s just a sequined gold thing. And how is it on theme? She also looks incredibly washed out with the hair. I think this is one of her worst met gala looks.

There's one in every generation and he is GenX's.

But this is very evocative of the monster in The Shape of Water so I will give him props for that.

So this was not actually Jared Leto, it’s someone else. Jared Leto came later as twinsies with some other bearded guy.

Alessandro Michele, the brain behind (newish) Gucci.

They also invited popular Tik Tok influencers. It’s about being relevant. It’s sad that this is our pop culture- people who are famous for no talent.

How can you say TikTok influencers have no talent? It's a form of entertainment!

The theme generally is American gilded glamour. Yes the specific time period referenced is 1870-1900 but you can take on different interpretations of theme and anything 'american' really hits it. Wearing a dress so famous as to be an American historical artifact that literally shimmers is on point thematically. The hair is clearly a nod to Marilyn. I mean you are trash talking one of the most famous dresses of all time calling it a blah dress. It isn't always about looking great (although I think she does honestly and think the only people who don't think that just hate her on principal) but about getting your references down. Going platinum blonde is getting your reference down.

Honestly tiktok influencers have way more talent than instagram influencers! To succeed on tiktok you have to CREATE interesting content.

These were fun! My faves: Janelle Monae, Kaia Gerber, Dove Cameron, Dakota Johnson, Emma Stone, Laura Harrier, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Venus Williams, Alicia Keys. And that little cutie Shawn Mendes

Least faves: Kim K (looks horrible blonde), SJP

No. PP said that the MM dress looks blah on Kim, and it does.
You must be joking about going platinum blonde, because that "reference" is really weak and doesn't translate.

Overall, it's a pretentious attempt with an underwhelming result and a huge stretch in following the theme.

Marilyn looked stunning.

Kim looked vulgar, as she nearly always does.

Blake and Lizzo are a few of the winners, those who got it.

+1 I also like SJP and Jessica Chastain who were going with the theme. And my girl crush, Alicia Keys - THIS CAPE

The reference of dying your hair platinum blonde while referencing marilyn monroe is a weak reference?????? What? The woman is a FAMOUS platinum blonde? I feel like you all are stretching. Dying ones hair platinum blonde while referencing MM is more 'too on the nose' than it is 'really weak and doesn't translate' if it is anything.

NP. It doesn’t look platinum, it just looks washed out. It didn’t translate. It’s okay. Are you her stylist or something?

I’m sure it’s been covered up thread but I bet Anna Wintour is PISSED. Who cares about the dumb Met Gala when the Supreme Court’s decision was announced last night?
