Two random questions:
1) Why is Devon with Rycken? And why is Rycken so besotted by Natalie? 2) Is this taking place on earth? Milchick said the waterfall at Woe's Hollow was the biggest "on the planet". At some point I think another character talked about "this planet". Do we know it's earth? |
Kier is a very common German name. |
Article in a Hollywood news outlet that says the Fields character is listed as appearing in next several episodes and if they brought in John Noble is thought because needed a GOOD actor- so prepare for some major scenes with Fields. |
1) Rycken craves flattery and Natalie is a professional smoocher. 2) My theory is that Woe's Hollow is part of the severed floor. If they can have a goat mountain, why not a winter park. Obviously, Milchick was lying to the team about the waterfall since they have a childlike knowledge of the world. |
What’s up with Dylan’s wife? I get she’s disappointed in outie Dylan. But why lie about the get together with innie Dylan? |
I think she's realized they are totally separate people and she feels like she's cheating on outie Dylan so she doesn't want to tell him. |
Because she doesn’t want him to figure out that she likes innie Dylan better than outie Dylan. |
One thing I’ve noticed with Severance is how important chotckis are to our life. I was trying to figure out why it generally looks so creepy and it’s because all the scenes are so empty. Even a conference room— usually you see pens and pads and people come in with their random coffee cups. When it’s all just clean and neat and empty, it feels very creepy. The outdoor shots are all like Hopper paintings — few people, few cars, nothing like buildboards of lifers nailed to light poles or litter on the group. It all feel like a world where 80% of the population died, and no one has much stuff. Just empty. It makes me immediately appreciate tje clutter in my own life! |
This is such an interesting insight. It's possible that we're looking at a world populated by survivors of a pandemic or nuclear meltdown. |
Thoughts on todays episode:
1. Allentown & Cold Harbour Concept: Allentown is a file for which Mark received an award, recognized for efficiently refining it, while Gemma has frequently revisited this particular room. Cold Harbour, on the other hand, is the final room, still unfinished, and represents the file Mark hasn’t yet completed. Is what MDR (or Mark) essentially doing is refining memories in order to create tests that gauge specific emotional responses? 2. Chip Idea: Perhaps they’re developing a chip that activates in moments of fear or discomfort, severing the individual during those experiences. Gemma is placed in these situations intentionally, with the chip transmitting data to MDR to pinpoint the exact moments of distress. The company plans to market this as the key to a “perfect” life, free from emotional turmoil. 3. Gemma’s Desire for a Child & Lumon: Did Gemma’s intense desire for a child lead her to fake her own death to become a part of Lumon? Or did she mistakenly believe Lumon was a fertility clinic, only to be kidnapped and have her death staged as part of a cruel experiment? 4. The Rooms & Gemma’s Fears: I think the rooms are constructed around Gemma’s deepest fears and dislikes. For example, Mark mentions she despises writing thank-you cards, and there’s an entire room where that’s all she does. But what’s the purpose of this? How does it serve Lumon’s ultimate goal? |
I don't like this season as much and I feel it is getting convoluted like Lost was. I loved the simplicity of the first season. Also, and this is really mean, I think the actor who plays Mark is so hard to look at and women would not find him attractive. His hair this season is so distracting. |
I like the actor who plays Mark but I think that his hair looks greasy and terrible in every episode and if they would just wash it and then style it attractively, it would make it more believable that Gemma would fall for him. |
Lumon / Eagen has a lot of British in it, despite being based in USA now . The lore, "whilst" in the notes card, "Keir". |
Am I the only one who doesn't recognize G/C every time they change her hair and style? |
