This is very well-written. Exquisite class & etiquette on display in that statement.

Sure going to get interesting seeing Republican politicians start attacking each other over the fact that some red states have high crime rates.

Yeah, DeSantis just full on out there running for President despite the Florida law that says he has to resign as governor before doing that.

Not sure what the point of this post is. Should we enumerate all the billionaires and celebrities who have donated to Democrats?

The point is that Youngkin is testing the waters for a presidential run.

Good.

This makes a Youngkin run look less likely.

Yeah - I am not voting for him for President, but I think Youngkin would largely abide by the law and accepted governance norms. DeSantis seems like a slow motion train wreck.

Abide by the law and accepted governance norms? Why would such a phrase ever by used when discussing the GOP anymore? Just forget it. I mean George Santos is actually a sitting GOP congressman and actually collecting a paycheck. Just forget it.

+1
The entire GQP needs to go to the ashbin of history.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I will just note that this is what we Floridians have been trying to tell you guys all along, and the D-heads kept telling us that we were obviously just "scared" and "jelly" and all sorts of other things. Lil D stinks, and now you all get to see it.

For the best. He will be nominated and lose and then maybe he will go away.

Donald Trump is on track to be the first major party nominee in the modern era to lose the popular vote 3 times. This hasn’t happened since William Jennings Bryan well over 100 years ago.

I wouldn’t count out DeSantis just yet. He’s young and has a full head of natural, dark hair. Trump does not have that.

Oh, trust me, no one is counting him out. But y'all acted like he was the second coming, some beast of a candidate who was so powerful that the whole world would just stop in its tracks once he got on the trail. Instead you're seeing that he's an inauthentic, unlikeable kid who eats pudding with his fingers and doesn't know how to respond when faced with the hard and totally predictable questions and issues he's facing in the national eye.

You love that he went after Disney and trans people in Florida, but you don't understand that he is never in front of an audience of regular people. He's only EVER in front of allies - and only in tightly scripted circumstances, and for short times. He's crumbling in public, and it couldn't happen to a nastier person.

Anyway, it sounds like he's hired some pros - and maybe they won't get so disgusted with him that they will quickly leave and then spill their gross stories to the press. They may be able to shape him into a better candidate, and, like I said, after 2016 I will never claim victory before we have victory. But it is giving me IMMENSE pleasure to see him shrink in the public eye. He is such a horrible, evil, hateful man, and my great hope - probably not to be realized - is that Trump destroys him right before going off to prison, and then you end up with a normal R like Tim Scott who I can oppose because we disagree on normal policy issues, not because they're just Hitler wearing a pudding-smeared mask.

Far be it from me to give Ron DeSantis free political advice, but if he wants to win the Republican nomination he will have to take Trump on and *not* be squeamish about it. Trump feeds on weakness and hesitancy in others and gains strength from it. That means, for instance, DeSantis will have to acknowledge that Trump legitimately lost the 2020 election. Say it loud and clear and lean into it. But he’ll probably try to thread the needle and split the difference and get crushed.

It's a hard needle to thread and it seems like he's stabbing himself in the eye with it at the moment!
