Trouble in paradise? [twitter]https://twitter.com/aterkel/status/1639425910146465794?s=61&t=I7ZozTDGmPOsC7cmSRxwgA[/twitter]
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I will just note that this is what we Floridians have been trying to tell you guys all along, and the D-heads kept telling us that we were obviously just "scared" and "jelly" and all sorts of other things. Lil D stinks, and now you all get to see it.
I wouldn’t count out DeSantis just yet. He’s young and has a full head of natural, dark hair. Trump does not have that.
Oh, trust me, no one is counting him out. But y'all acted like he was the second coming, some beast of a candidate who was so powerful that the whole world would just stop in its tracks once he got on the trail. Instead you're seeing that he's an inauthentic, unlikeable kid who eats pudding with his fingers and doesn't know how to respond when faced with the hard and totally predictable questions and issues he's facing in the national eye. You love that he went after Disney and trans people in Florida, but you don't understand that he is never in front of an audience of regular people. He's only EVER in front of allies - and only in tightly scripted circumstances, and for short times. He's crumbling in public, and it couldn't happen to a nastier person. Anyway, it sounds like he's hired some pros - and maybe they won't get so disgusted with him that they will quickly leave and then spill their gross stories to the press. They may be able to shape him into a better candidate, and, like I said, after 2016 I will never claim victory before we have victory. But it is giving me IMMENSE pleasure to see him shrink in the public eye. He is such a horrible, evil, hateful man, and my great hope - probably not to be realized - is that Trump destroys him right before going off to prison, and then you end up with a normal R like Tim Scott who I can oppose because we disagree on normal policy issues, not because they're just Hitler wearing a pudding-smeared mask.
Far be it from me to give Ron DeSantis free political advice, but if he wants to win the Republican nomination he will have to take Trump on and *not* be squeamish about it. Trump feeds on weakness and hesitancy in others and gains strength from it. That means, for instance, DeSantis will have to acknowledge that Trump legitimately lost the 2020 election. Say it loud and clear and lean into it. But he’ll probably try to thread the needle and split the difference and get crushed.
