Common sense isn’t something that Karl Frisch and his “allies” have ever brought to the table, so no one should expect them to start now. They are just an embarrassment to the county.

I'd read the books before making a full defense of them, personally (although the quoted passages don't trouble me for kids in high school), but the persistent lies about pedophilia makes it hard to take the book banners seriously. I'd trust a school librarian over someone who keeps lying to me as part of their argument.

The argument that additional review is needed to appreciate the context for the portrayal of graphic sex acts involving children borders on the absurd. Take your filth somewhere else. You have no standards at all.

Two kids were experimenting with their bodies. Just like many, many kids have done. It’s totally normal.

But what’s interesting to me is that we allow our kids to watch marvel movies where an entire population is annihilated but a book with sexual descriptions is horrible.

For the record- if your 12 year old reads this book, it will be a good conversation for you to have with you kids about sex. It will also be important for you to talk about it with your kids at this age before someone else does.

So for people who don’t think these books cross the line of what’s unacceptable exposure to sexual content for high school kids, what would cross the line? Or does anything cross the line? Is all sexual content okay for 13+ year olds? If not, then what wouldn’t be okay?

Personally, I wouldn’t be comfortable with books that celebrate abuse, including pedophilia or graphic depictions of rape.
