$7 mid next year when Trumps strategic reserve runs out |
$2.86 at Fairfax Global on Blake Lane in Fairfax. |
https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/16/economy/biden-spr-exchange-and-replenish/index.html It’s getting refilled |
Thank you Brandon! |
It's still 3.49-3.59 from what I've seen here in W. Springfield. It hasn't dropped as much as I thought it would have by now. |
Not only is it getting refilled, but Biden made the USA a $4B profit doing it!! If he was running a hedge fund he would have made himself a billionaire with this move. |
You really don;'t have to go far to get it almost a dollar cheaper. |
Use GasBuddy. Many statins offer further discounts through the app. Costco with their cash-back credit card still can’t be beat. |
We drive almost solely on electric and I’m just surprised that as of yesterday the stations I saw were still in that range. Just looked at the Gasbuddy map and most seem to be in the 3.39-3.59 range. There is one station that is 2.80 something. |
I suspect you’re looking at a cluster of stations effectively engaging in anti-competitive behavior and likely owned and leased out by the same jobber that is delivering from the refinery. Prices in Woodbridge are significantly lower, with Costco at $2.82. |
Exactly this. Plus anything right off I-95 is effectively $1 more per gallon than a mile away off the highway. For example, all the stations near 7 Corners are in the 2.80s. |
DarkBrandon is a badass! |
The SPR is for emergencies. It is not built to be filled and refilled, as the oil is not in barrels, but instead in some giant underground caverns. |
Sort of. It's all governed by section 6241, which says that an emergency situation causes a disruption of supply of oil that is likely to cause big price increases, big enough to affect the economy. It does not require a shortage so severe that there is no gas at the pumps. The emergency is the war which has disrupted the global supply of oil. That fulfills the first part. Prices were going up and it was affecting the economy. |
I saw $4.06 today at a Sunoco on Route 123 in Lorton, VA. |
