Fire in upper NW?

There were two home invasions in my parents hood years ago...both involved Asian gangs (older teens) breaking into homes of Asians they knew who owned successful businesses...looking for cash and jewelry. Families were bound and tortured, but not killed.

Going out on a limb here, but I wonder if his new martial arts studio prompted a turf war?

This case just feels so different from the urgency from a few weeks ago, when the inmate who was being treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital escaped. Remember that? It was a breaking news story with updates every few minutes. I actually stayed home with my kids that day, as we lived not too far from the hospital and no one knew where that guy had gone or what he would do.

Well, then they knew who they were looking for then and a manhunt made sense. If they do not have an identified perpetrator on the loose, who is everyone going to "hunt" for? When someone is missing, they have rescuers hunting for the missing person and there are regular updates. The official role for civilians here is that those that have evidence can call it in.

This was done by someone who hated the dad, and/or the mom. They wanted to torture them, make them suffer and hurt them in the worst way possible-sadly they suceeded. It was either a business deal gone wrong, or a resentflul and jealous household staff who was harboring hate for a long time. Hurting the kid was to torture the parents. It is similar in a way to the Krim murders where the nanny knew that by killing the 2 kids she would hurt that mom for life-the worst hurt ever. I guess it is possible it was random, but that seems far fetched-no one would stay 10-23 hours at a crime scene they created. Most people, even crazy ones would get in and out ASAP. I also think it was someone very familiar with the home, the layout, where things were kept (like gasoline) etc......

Maybe someone the dad fired

Also, they may have ditched the car in PG county to throw investigators off-perhaps they live in AC, FFXC, MOCO, etc...

Also in that voice mail where you can hear the kid in distress it also sounded like a woman who was terrified ion the background-the cops likely have heard more than was released.

Gasoline is kept in the garage or a shed out back. No one keeps it anywhere else. That doesn't really suggest intimate knowledge.

It was the origional one that is hard to find now-you hear the kid and then a female woice in distress. Not sure it can be found anymore but it was posted earlier in this thread-which no way I am going to sift through-that could take 6 months!

This makes sense. This brutal murder is very personal. Torturing the 10 year old and not touching the maid just says it all. Sounds like a bad business deal and all SS could come up with was 40K and then they stayed a couple more hours torturing them thinking that would create more money somehow. I think they were all killed because they could identify these people, the maid might not of been able to but she could still pick them out in a line up.

They would have to convince someone to come with them and commit a very risky and vicious crime.

Agree that the cops know more than the public but disagree with your assessment of the email.

Just to add some info about cars at the house..TV news coverage at the house the last few days has had a white Range Rover (though I don't pretend to know cars) and a small coupe parked in the driveway. I wonder why they picked the Porsche to steal.

Someone knew they had gasoline-some people do not have it-especially wealthy ones who hire landscapers who bring their own-why would the Savos need gasoline-except to power the kids go-kart?

I don't keep gasoline. I guess if you have a lawnmower you might, but the family had a gardening service, so I am not sure they would necessarily keep gasoline either. They either had knowledge of the family and the gasoline (if they intended all along to start the fire) or they didn't know about the gasoline at all and stumbled upon it. I feel like they were stupid crooks without regard for life who watched CSI or something and decided they could cover up the evidence with a fire. THe fact the person drives a Porsche around for hours suggests these guys were not bright. And of course the pizza delivery.
