Mandani wants to revolutionize groceries with socialism because that worked so well in the USSR. The GOP knows Mamdani's policies will be an unmitigated disaster, but the GOP is too cowed to actually fix the problem.

I’ve asked this before here but why are you so threatened by 1 test grocery store located in a food desert (ie meaning no private grocery store is operating there) in each borough? Do you just read the FOX headlines (or Cuomo robocalls)? Why NOT try something new?

He’s threatened because Zohran is Muslim. Simple as that.

Mamdani’s economic populism isn’t radical - it’s reactive.

After decades of corporate greed, stagnant wages, and soaring costs of housing, food, and everything else, his socialism is a direct response to a broken system that's failed the majority of Americans.

It's not new. It has failed basically everywhere it's been tried. It's new to you because you, like nearly everyone else in the West, didn't study economic history.

This is true. However, his reactionary policies won't address the causes of these bad economic outcomes but will instead make them worse.

Works just fine in many other countries. NYC is practically its own small country, so it’s a great place to pilot it in the US.

In which country does it work just fine?

Oh lord, get real. It’s a pilot program. You run pilots to gather data. The current system isn’t working for everyone, so they are going to try to address shortcomings.

You slaves to ancient static economic theories are so weird, especially when you don’t have any actual evidence to discredit the effort.

History is evidence. Just because you don't like it or are unfamiliar with it, doesn't mean history isn't a useful guide. You think this hasn't been tried before? Do you think it's an original idea? If not, why run a pilot program where we already know the results.

I don't need a pilot program on wealth taxes to know how those work either because I know what happened in France when they tried to install them.

Any democratic socialist country works to make things better for its population, and they run many public-private partnerships, as would be the case here.

This is not a radical idea, but it seems that some people have really been conditioned to hate the idea of people getting benefits from their tax money. Pretty weird if you ask me.

We also know what happened in France when the rich continued to steal from the poor. I think that they just celebrated the anniversary.

I recommend that you just not move to NYC, I guess.

Zohran will be the next President of the United States. Under his leadership we will roll back what republicans have done to this country.

He can’t. He was not born in the US.

Mamdani wants socialized housing. How about stopping the invasion of America?

Huh? He wants more housing for people. NYC has a severe housing shortage. Every candidate suggests that in some form.

The housing shortage is because foreign rich billionaires are buying empty apartments in the city that aren’t even rentals. They just keep the homes for summer or business trips

Zohran + the City Council can jack up property taxes on such properties. This is really what has the RE industry + rich people in Florida + Europe + Israel scared.

He doesn’t need to jack up tax rates. He just needs to bring down the hammer on properties where no natural person files a NYS tax return.
