St Pats.

No, not a single St. Pats boy was admitted into fourth at STA in the rising C Form grade or in the rising A form grade.

No St. Pats boys are in the class for C form for next year and there were none in last year's C form class.

Incorrect. At least one St Pats boy is in C form this year. H.T.

Yes but none in the current C Form and none in the current A form.

I bet something happened with a family from there that has come in the last few years. Maybe they weren't happy with the family.

Stop with the obnoxious innuiendio and rumors. Its ridiculous and ugly and makes YOU look terrible. No such thing happened.

+1

Is C form 4th grade? Has it occurred to anybody that nobody from St. Pats actually wants to leave and go to 4th grade at St. Albans? From what I have seen, less interest is the reason they are not there, not rejections.

There were a number of St. Pats 3rd grade boys at the admission test last winter...maybe they did not pull the trigger and apply but they were there so there certainly was some level of interest.

You are very defensive about this topic. No rumors. It was just a thought of a possibility. I have no idea and really don't care either way. It does not affect me.

Let's get back to the topic at hand, shall we. There is an upcoming Open House this weekend. Please attend if you are able. Lots of boys and school reps will be there, maybe even some parents. They can help answer a lot of your questions.

If you show up in your travel soccer or club lacrosse uniform, even better. STA is now aggressively seeking student athletes, emphasis on a capital A.

I have heard there are a lot of siblings applying for Form 1 (7th grade). Is that true?

STA may well be aggressively seeking student athletes, but just playing on a club isn't any guarantee that a player will be an impact player at the HS level. Participation in youth club sports is a better proxy for parental influence and bank account than high level athletic ability.

Also, with respect to soccer specifically, I wouldn't assume that playing soccer will put a thumb on the admissions scales -- by definition, the best soccer players will be playing for the Academy club programs and cannot even play soccer for their high school. Athletic recruiting for someone who might very likely never play a sport (or their best sport) for your school would not seem to be a reasonable allocation of resources (with resources being "chips" in the admissions process).

How long is the essay they have to write during the testing day?
Are there any interviews done with the students?

From what I gathered from my son who is now the school, he was able to string together enough sentences to form a paragraph. So maybe half a page?

No interviews per se. But make not mistake about it, throughout the day your son is being observed. By the way, so are you. That's the reason I left my DH behind.

Ha, ha. Thank you.

How many 8th graders are leaving? Is there still a possibility of waitlist movement for 9th grade at this stage?

Wait until the first week in June.

People sometimes move for jobs unexpectedly. Not often but it happens. I would let admissions know you are interested still if a spot opens up. Best of luck to you. We love STA.

What are these different "Forms?"

Its the way British "public" schools refer to grades and has been used by STA since the beginning. Form C = 4th, B = 5th, A = 6th, Form I = 7th and so on...
