Getting into St. Albans

Right, but if you're testing every week then it can prevent a major outbreak due to non-symptomatic kids just caring on like normal and infecting others. Testing is definitely better than not testing.

Most DC Privates are made up of children of long term residents and those in a given Administration tend to just roll out to Private sector and stay

Even Obama stayed so his youngest could graduate.

As for the rest of the mean spirited posts- politics and times will change- they always do. But, when everything gets back to normal what will be remembered is who was a decent person and who was just dying to be caddy and mean. Be a grown up- you might find you like the way it feels for a change

^^. I agree with your post but FYI, the worst is “catty,” not “caddy,”

Wishful thinking. STA has some Trumpsters but few who work for the administration. Of those, most have been in DC and will stay in DC.

Well, if you just want to get early indicators of case spikes there are easier and cheaper ways- just weekly test the waste water in each building . LS and US are separate so that sets up a good yield- plus you don't need anyone's consent to test what is in a sewer line

I think you have lost your mind.

Any chance of STA admission? This is for 4th grade entry.

90%+ scores in all grades
URM
Very athletic plays soccer and basketball
Speaks a foreign language (not Spanish)
Has a sibling at another Big 3 (which we will also be applying to for admission)
Non-Beauvoir
Currently at public school in Montgomery County.

Yeah you got a chance. Go ahead and apply.

Be sure to talk to the basketball coach. He runs the Skip Grant Program and has some influence on admissions.

Your son has a good chance, but it will depend somewhat on the admissions year and who else is applying. Some years siblings, faculty, alumni, and trustee kids will leave only a few spots In recent memory, the max was about 15 non-Beauvoir students admitted in the C Form (4th). Most years, it's closer to 10. It also depends on whether you need financial aid. If you're Black, Latino, or Native American and can pay full tuition, your chances will improve.

Will need FA as we are paying already for another Big 3. Is there anything else to make DS's application more competitive?

Which private is your other kid at and why sta over that one for this kid? You need to make that clear in application or they will assume you aren’t serious about sta.

I don't want to necessarily identify myself but my other child is at either Sidwell/GDS. I already said I was applying to the other private my older child attends, but as an option was also considering STA. Primarily because my DS is super sporty unlike my other child who is mostly academically strong. Many have said STA is big on sports. Trying to find the right fit for him.

Sta is a rigorous academic place and has more of a sports focus than sidwell or gds, but it's not "big on sports.". For that, look at St. Johns or Gonzaga. With your other kid at gds or SFS, you need to really figure out if sta is your first choice and make that really clear. Otherwise, just being honest, I don't see then giving one of the very few fourth grade slots for non-bvr boys to your child.

Your son will be okay at his older siblings schools for the sports you mentioned.
