You know there are female firefighters right now, right? Are you suggesting United is recruiting people that don't have interests/abilities that dovetail with the job? Or that women and BIPOC people can't be interested/have the ability to be pilots based on the their gender/race? |
| Oh and I also have news for you about flight attendants. |
It’s called setting goals and trying to attract people. The supposition that only white dude make good pilots is ridiculous. |
Thank you for saying that. I know. |
That’s just you internalizing things. Your feelings aren’t valid. Get over it. |
All D.E.I. does is get them in the door since the opportunities didn’t exist previously. Your contention that these candidates are inherently unqualified is in fact racist as it goes to the trope about people of color being inferior intellectually. Only a white supremacist would use this example. |
Bullcrap. When "equal outcomes" is the goal and quotas are set and diversity is more important than skill, talent, and ability, it isn't just getting "them in the door." |
The vast majority of hiring is subject to very little oversight, and compensatory policies that address racial bias reach a very small fraction of hiring overall. Together, these trends offer little support for optimism about racial progress in the United States. While some people may assume that discrimination has declined over time, through increasing diversity in institutions along with other cultural changes, it seems as though, at least in terms of hiring, this expectation doesn’t meet with reality.

| I love how automatically women and minorities are not considered worthy of merit! Like they don’t have the skills for the job. D.E.I. encouraged merit hires!! It’s advocating the hiring of people not generally in certain positions because they’re not the norm, NOT BECAUSE THEY ARENT QUALIFIED!! |
Nobody said any such thing. |
|
Take a look at the DFile at FilmThreat.
They have been actively pushing out whites and men at Disney in favor of women and minorities who will serve as activists. |
| This is not a problem. |
It's the pretty obvious subtext of certain posts on this thread suggesting that by hiring women and people of color, United is hiring unqualified people. |
Exactly. |
You say “by hiring” What PPs are saying is “by making it the top priority to hire” Big difference |
