My DDs team is currently 1-1-6. All the nepotism and favorites while lack of playing time for others sure is producing excellent results. |
Yes. They are all money grabs. The 40-60th best players at tryouts? GMAB |
OK let's think about this. If you want 2 teams at 11v11 you need about 36. At 7v7 your average team size is 10-12. How many teams do you need to have 36 stick with it by time you get to 11v11. Probably 4 to 5 At 9v9 your average team size is 12-14. You need 3 teams. And this assumes you don't lose many. It sure would be nice if at the younger ages and small team sizes more than the top team had a quality coach. |
This made me spit out my chili haha! |
Why look at it that way? They are providing a service that people want to buy. Rec often sucks. Lower level travel can be better. It’s a money grab the way the gas station is because you have to pay for gas or McDonald’s is because you have to pay for food. You can eat at home and take the bus but people like to do other things. |
Why ignore or dismiss the facts in the link above? Is it to continue the story you tell yourself about Valor? It looks like the “40-60th best players” did just fine last season finishing 26th in the state. Not everything you or your player experience (assuming your a part of the club) is the same experience of the 900+ other players and their families. |
I am so thankful and blessed to own a Tesla and a McDonald’s so my kid doesn’t have to play CYA rec. |
Sure you pay more for things for convenience or an experience. Here you are paying 10x the cost. That would be like paying 100 dollars for a McDonald's hamburger. NO one is doing that. And in my experience with this particular club the top team players pay the exact same as the lower team players and are given a much better experience. |
That age group is a f'ing mess. All the good lower tiered talent left and they could barely field 3 teams this year despite spending the whole spring trying to sucker anyone they could find into joining. Why'd they all leave if it was going so great? The 2014 second team is getting destroyed weekly and got slaughtered last weekend as did the third team. They are being promised that 'trusting the process will lead to great development as the year goes on!'. Going to tournaments and playing other div 5-6 teams is not impressive. Got soccer rankings at this age is extremely unreliable and anyone with a brain can tell how much clubs try and pad their records as best they can to get points and wins even if they are playing basically rec teams from the middle of nowhere Virginia. |
QFT. My DD started on a 5th team and spent 2 years on a 3rd team. She’s now an ECNL starter. |
Any rating system that has the *third* level Valor team as top 20 something in the state is hilarious. They wouldn't even be the top 20 something team in Fairfax. How stupid do you think people are? Those website ratings are meaningless. |
So here’s the real question
Why do CYA and SYA allow this to happen? They are the board of directors for valor. Maybe this combined experiment has gone too far and SYA and CYA should go back to doing their own club teams. What is the history of this combined effort gone bad? |
No. The real question is, was the coach texting during the game today, did he “verbally abuse” his dd during the game (whatever that means), and did she play 56 minutes today? |
They make more money combined and they mooch resources off both sya and cya this way. |
Were CYA and SYA really any better? In theory this was a good idea there are way too many small clubs within short distances of one another. |
