How long as Heeter been the coach there for now?

Would have thought he would have Next Level pipeline by now.

Didn’t he send like 6 kids to D-1 schools last year and a lot of them are seeing time as freshmen? He got nothing out of them.

He’s not a very good coach. His best shot was with the team he had last year and they underachieved big time. He’s been there for a while now with less than stellar results.

As for the NL pipeline to STA, NL parents by and large don’t like him and kids don’t like playing for him so I can’t imagine they’re lining up to play for him over there too.

This is barely a coach thing. STA is one of the more expensive schools and one of the most academically rigorous schools in the area. There's not a lot of financial need-based lacrosse applicants in the area. They have dorms but those are an after thought to the school and house almost entirely foreign based students.STA would love to be more lacrosse competitive but it's not going to happen with any frequency. A win over the Height is actually a pretty good win at their level.

Bullis playing them to a one goal game is not a good omen for the Bulldogs.

IAC and WCAC are way down this year and early season results thus far already show this.

I wouldn’t be shocked if the Cadets lay an egg tomorrow against Gilman!

Bullis reffing is insane. FoGo for Bullis goes early every single time and home refs saying nothing? Smelled a lot like last year's Landon and Gonzaga matches. Bullis at Spalding or a neutral field loses that match. But look for Bullis to only have problems with Prep and Landon as the rest of their schedule is meh at best.

All these things can be true - it’s a tough school to recruit to and he is a bad coach. He had a solid team last year and did nothing with it. Everyone also has a Heeter yelling at them when they were like 9 years old story from NL as well. He is a hot head with little imagination and no ability to coach kids up. Can you imagine going there and your “break” from the academic pressure is getting screamed at by that guy in practice? I am glad he is there as it keeps them from ever really mounting a challenge.

There are some big non league games being played over the next 48 hours. I'll try my best to compile the schedule.

Friday March 15th Schedule:

Gilman at SJC
GZ at Saint Mary's
Lawrenceville at Calvert Hall
PVI at Collegiate
John Carroll at Good Counsel

Neutral's Picks:
SJC over Gilman by 2-3
Saint Mary's over GZ by 1
Lawrenceville over Calvert Hall by 4
PVI over Collegiate by 5 - 6
John Carroll over GC by 2 - 3

Saturday March 16th Schedule

3rd Annual IAC vs Inter - AC Lacrosse Challenge (all games to be played at Saint Stephens)

Malvern Prep vs GP
SSAS vs Penn Charter
Bullis vs Springside Chestnut Academy
EHS vs Episcopal Academy
Landon vs Haveford
STA vs Germantown Academy

Neutral's Picks:
Malvern Prep over GP by 3
SSAS over Penn Charter by 1 - 2
Bullis over SCA by 4 - 5
Episcopal Academy over EHS by 2 - 3
Haveford over Landon by 4
Germantown over STA by 2

It’s possible that the Inter-AC gets a clean sweep against the IAC.

STA had a good squad last year, however at the same time, the IAC happened to be pretty deep last spring. GP was a top 5 team in the Nation. Landon ended up having a decent team by the end of the year as did Episcopal who historically is one of the worst teams in the league and Bullis is always good.

STA went 3 - 4 last year against MIAA play (beat Spalding, Gilman and St Pauls... lost to Severn)... Went undefeated during their road trip to Texas against some solid programs down there. Beat league foe Bullis for the first time in maybe a decade and played Gonzaga rather close. Not going to deny, they did have some bad losses, the Saint Stephens game was bad.

In the head Heeter's defense, STA is a hard place to recruit prospective families to. Academically it is the hardest All Boys school in the area to get into and STA generally doesn't bend on admissions standards for athletes unlike some other IAC teams (not trying to open up a can of worms here).

As an STA fan, I'd like to see the admin put more of an emphasis on its lacrosse program. Right now, the soccer program gets all the spotlight and appears to have more political capital with admissions.

They did NOT go undefeated in Texas. Heeter overplayed some kids last year and had no depth resulting in many late game collapses. In his defense, perhaps his best overall player and key chemistry guy didn’t really play last year.

Unfortunately, he looks to be doing the same overplay strategy again this year. STA has had multi-goal leads in every game they have played but have faded late.

Soccer, CC, tennis, baseball and golf field STAs best teams. Unfortunately, those are also some of the hardest sports to translate into enhanced college admissions.

Is there a livestream for the SJC - Gilman game?

Thanks!

These teams are also consistently competitive against conference rivals and vie for championships frequently. The coaches at STA for these teams seem to have figured out how to field great teams with limited recruiting availability. While it’s certainly an issue for Heeter, it’s no more of an issue for him than it is the baseball, soccer, cross country track etc. coach and they all manage well.

Heeter is not a good coach. He couldn't figure out how to get results from the '26 NL team so just walked away.

Can we stop with the personal attacks?

These coaches aren’t getting paid top dollar to coach HS lacrosse folks.

Heeter is in a really tough spot - as someone else said, STA is so expensive and so hard. That being said I think their admissions office might be out to get him? Many parents there are VERY invested in the idea that having kids at STA is fancy and ups their own status so they might not care but the alumni with kids there are really going to start. STA was an athletic powerhouse in the 90s - competitive in every sport. Pretty crazy.

The former headmaster Vance Wilson, set the school back athletically big time

And agree with you, in the 90s STA was an athletic powerhouse in all sports and maintained its academic elite status.

It was done then and it can be done now with the right leadership.

Does anyone know the name of the Prep goalie who got the start against Loyola.

They aren't out to get him. How many families can get their kid into STA and afford the tuition? It's a very small subset. It's like the Heights in a way with their very strict adherence to religion. It's just not for everyone.

And that’s the problem….
