Biden's VP?

I'm still on th Adams bandwagon. She's brilliant and puts the focus on governance issues. Wish she was better looking but her outsider cred and age would be very helpful. Would love to see the internal NC, AZ and WI polling though.

Sorry. I think she’s out.

She's a woman: strike one
She's black: strike two
She's fat: strike three and out.

That's America in 2020. With hope it won't be America by the next generation.

You can take that to the bank.

Sorry, but she carries way too much baggage from her career as a prosecutor and DA. She might have been a more viable choice a month ago before George Floyd's murder. Not today.

This.

In the current environment, Senator Harris's record as a prosecutor is a huge potential liability. She came up through the ranks as a prosecutor when it was important for aspiring Democratic politicians to show they were "tough on crime." She continued being a tough prosecutor as District Attorney of San Francisco and carried that mindset throughout her career. It is part of who she is. All it takes is for Trump's researchers (or allies abroad) to find one case where a police shooting was mishandled by Harris or her office, and Harris will struggle to explain herself and lose votes. Biden himself is perhaps best known legislatively for the crime bill of the 1990s which put 100,000 cops on the street. He needs to find someone who is a credible candidate but not involved in law enforcement issues as it is not going to be possible to satisfy the reallocate/defund movement right now because no one person speaks for that movement.

Susan Rice is the safest choice. She has been in the room when major decisions were made. Biden should pick her and move forward.

I like Susan Rice personally but she adds absolutely nothing to the ticket.

Let me expand b cause Susan Rice would be an absolutely horrible choice.

1. She's really short - yes that matters
2. She's been tied to scandal by Fox news for years - it doesn't matter whether they were true or not, it's about preformed opinions
3. She doesn't expand the coalition in any way. Anyone who cares about foreign policy people is already a never Trumper
4. She prevents any outsider campaign from being run - she's actually more of an "elite" than Biden
5. She provides zero boost in the only states that matter

I think your 3 cancels out your 2. We don’t need any Fox News voters. I do agree with others though.

My black friends and I were discussing this. And just thinking, why not just pick the BEST person? Why say they have to be black, or a woman, or young. Just pick the best person. He kinda boxed himself in. However, I have confidence in his full cabinet selection and believe if he gets a strong team of service that will work in alliance, we can get to work on repairing the broken mess that is being made right now.

Love her. But she's too old. Just like Warren.

At 66, she's barely into her senior years. There is a difference between 66 and 71, though Elizabeth Warren is energetic and sharp as a tack, to the point of appearing a full generation younger than both presidential contenders. Experience matters, and both of these women have it. They are easily my top two in that regard. I have serious concerns about presidential readiness for a number of other women on the list, with the exception of Rice, Baldwin, Lujan Grisham, and possibly Duckworth.

From the NYTimes article yesterday: "The way she [Harris] and her advisers handled the 2020 primary left some in the Biden campaign with significant reservations."
Bass and Demings are more appealing in my opinion. I prefer Bass due to legislative experience and because she is an excellent, warm speaker.

Bass and Demings are appealing, indeed.

However, only Harris has the essential experience Biden knows he really needs: Someone who can be POTUS at a moment's notice.

We currently have a ginormous idiot as President and a mannequin as VP. Biden does not need a VP that is pre-qualified to be President. Yes Biden is old but so is Trump. There's no benefit gained and no relative negatives countered. It is far more to be gained, and nothing lost, by having someone "new" and Gen X.

There is a great deal to be lost if Biden becomes incapacitated early in his term. It's too much of a risk imo. Experience is my number one criterion for the pick.

The amount of people in the world that would have done a worse job than the current occupant can be counted on one hand. This is not a normal election. In this election, experience is not electorally beneficial and not having experience is not an electoral negative.

The cynical answer is that by picking a woman of color, he's seeking to appease liberals. The truth of the matter is that if he is to win, he needs a VP who brings strength to the ticket, which may or may not include certain constituencies.

+1 especially in such an important area lacking in some of the others. Plus she's Black, which also matters. Will she appeal to flyover America? She's a clear, direct, and no-nonsense speaker, so she might. I'm all for a competence and experience ticket, even if I still suspect she's in this for SecState.

If Biden were young and vigorous, I would agree with you. Since he is neither, I do not. I think most will be more concerned about this VP pick than usual. It's hard enough to get people in this country to trust a female leader but one without deep legislative or governing experience? If Biden is still expanding his list at this point, it's because he wants more options. Adding Bass in particular makes it clear what his concerns are.
