FCPS paying for Critical Race Theory curriculum. To be implemented in a year

Anonymous
FCPS needs to stick to it’s job of teaching students how to actually, read, write, and do math. It’s time for all of the social justice warriors to be voted out and replaced with school board members who actually care about quality teaching.

Let’s get back to the business at hand - providing our children with an education that will help them be productive adults.

I would not be so upset if schools taught that hey, if you are born white in this county, you do have an innate advantage that black folks don’t have due to the long legacy of slavery and Jim Crow. Don’t perpetuate the problem. But don’t tell my 10 year old they are bad and to “check her white privileged.” I will be furious at that- that term is being used to shut down conversation and to call all white people racist.

Signed a centrist who is sick and tired of the extreme rhetoric on both ends.

JFC. Turn off FoxNews.

And that ugly response is precisely why Democrats may well take a beating in local/state elections over the next few years. The entire message is "stop whining and get with our program."

- Long-time Democrat ready to bolt

No, that is called stop making sh1t up. And stop believing lies.

If you choose to believe the lies, that is 100% on you. Don't blame others for your inability to discern reality from manufactured GOP lies.

Not PP. Never watch Fox. Have seen plenty of reports of kids in various schools being required to take the role of "privileged" versus "victim" based on skin color. Do not think that's OK. Also would be fine with what PP would be fine with.

100%

I have several Black neighbors living in $3M homes sending their kids to expensive privates. I don’t see why their kids should get further reparations or be encouraged to call the white and Asian kids “colonizers” (as a slur) and oppressors.

When you’ve seen equal opportunity reward people of different races, CRT feels like Maoism.

You are the reason why this curriculum is needed.

Another "post racial America" person because the U.S. elected President Obama.

Try to think critically.

And you're the reason why no one wants it. You are trying to teach kids WHAT to think, not how. You're too dense to realize every time someone responds " ypu're the reason why" all you are is saying is that, "I don't like the way you think and I think this curriculum will inculcate younger minds." Guess what, you're going to have a fight on your hands with 50% of the student parents. CRT doesn't need to be taught - it's a political movement. Signed, A Black Parent.

So you are happy with the "reparations" your kids have received?

She/he is against this political movement being taught in schools, period.

You should just accept that his/her blackness doesn't have to lead to support of CRT.

Hey, idiot, you could have least paid some attention to all the ridiculous woke rhetoric coming from the FCPS School Board before they decided there were too many Asian kids there.

Bari Weiss wrote on it. I know she was forced out of/resigned from NYT, but she's hardly Faux.

Why would I assume that?

Maybe 9:48 can come back to explain how the $3m poster was spot on and doesn't need any "training".

She didn't write that. Guess when you googled you didn't actually read what you googled?

So where exactly are you hearing about "plenty of reports" from "various schools"? Surely not just from the Google.

DP. Bari Weiss didn't write that article. She republished it on her Substack account after having recommended it to her readers.

So, slow clap to whoever pointed out she wasn't the author. What the fed-up teacher at the private school in NYC reported, however, is very much in line with what is already in the works in Fairfax and Loudoun.

I recently reviewed some source material from a link posted here on dcum. This was not for CRT but “anti-racist” math framework in CA. It literally said teaching by “focusing on the right answer is white supremacist culture”

If I hadn’t read it myself, I would think it was an absurd headline from Fox News designed to provoke controversy. But, it was 100% part of the new proposed teaching guidelines.

No one needs to go to Fox to get this info.

It is right there on the VA dept of Ed website, other states' dept of Ed websites, fcps official website, lcps website, the links to the organizations that school districts are contracting to run the curriculum, and the dang fcps Leadership survey.

Fox might provide summaries, but the CRT materials are there for any person to research on their own.
