I'm so confused.

Aren’t some of the APE members trying to doxx APS staff?

Absolutely false. That’s just one of many nasty rumors started by the AEM trolls.

DP. Absolutely true.

The APE FB group founder even admitted that people were posting this on APE. He reportedly deleted those posts, but they were certainly trying to doxx APS staff.

So we all agree that no one should be doxxing teachers, right?

And we all think the APE people who were trying to this were wrong, right?

What are you talking about? I’m in the Facebook group and have never seen a doxxing attempt of anyone let alone a teacher. That would definitely break the group rules. I’ve found the group to be much nicer even when there is hardcore debate about stuff than normal discourse on AEM.

You must have missed them. The founder admitted on AEM that people were attempting to target teachers (take screenshots & send to SB) but he deleted those posts because he agreed that they were wrong.

You agree that this was wrong, right?

Does everyone realize what a nonsensical discussion this is? That twitter account was full of screenshots, not just of the FOIA which revealed who asked for Mary's APS emails, but screenshots mostly of APE's FB page. It promoted Mary heavily, using APE's/Miranda's words against them, and tagged current SB members and Arlington Dems. It's clear that Smart Restart was behind it (just from who exposed the handle, and those who followed the page), but I really want to know if Mary Kadera's campaign coordinated with them. Honestly, if Kadera's campaign coordinated with them, I'll sit this election out. No thank you.

So you are outraged that someone who supports Smart Restart (and Kadera) would do that. But not if someone from APE (Turner) doxxes teachers?

Just trying to follow your outrage here...

What APE twitter post was showing screen shots of a private group's discussion or any groups? I've never seen them retweet someone to say ohhhh lookie here like I see with some of the prolific Arlington trolls or post a screenshot of someone's twitter posts like Smart Restart and co. What APE facebook post was showing screenshots of a private group? I've never seen that from either the twitter nor the facebook group. Smart restart and it's founders and trolls have retweeted screen shots of APE's twitter, I have never seen anything like that from APE twitter or their group. Just lots of articles and quotes.

Obviously they are mad about the way APS and the Board handled this but I don't see them EVER going after other individuals, families or parents. Only one group does that and it's not Arlington Parents for Education.

This is ridiculous and disheartening. This obsession with slandering APE members is ridiculous. If you want schools to stay closed then advocate with the SCHOOL BOARD. What is the point of going after a group of parents and individuals you don't agree with? Focus your ire and disappointment at APS, the County, the Superintendent, whatever but this disparaging and slandering of your neighbors has got to stop.

As someone tangentially connected to CCPTA, that’s what they were busy doing. Coordinating support, food, clothing, school supplies, books, for the kids at that and other Title 1 schools and listening to those families rather than telling them that their kids need to go back to further our own agendas. That’s structural racism and nice white parenting, if I’ve ever seen it.

I’m sorry, wanting to open schools is structural racism? Where in the world did you come up with that? Kids get meals at school, they could get books there too and at the closed public libraries, they get access to an education too, a lot receive medical and dental care through schools too. Ever heard of a DD waiver? Did the half of kids (including minorities) who wanted to be in school not matter? Also aps students are more diverse than the teachers we were all “protecting” so whose side is structurally racist? None of that would have been necessary to do if schools were open.

I only ever see white parents arguing to keep schools closed till it’s “safe” meaning their level of their risk tolerance has to be met. Then I see them hide behind, “look the minorities don’t want schools to open”. White savior much? I didn’t see any of these people on AEM or in county board meetings argue to keep daycares closed (teachers there are usually minority) or that we should make sure break rooms in grocery stores be ventilated for example (also mostly minority) but public school (80% white staff) is unsafe? Hmmmm

It’s structural racism when the community you’re supposedly advocating for is opposed to being forced back into the classroom. When the families who have been hit hardest by the pandemic, both economically and physically, want to keep their children home you keep their names out of your mouth. And yes, it was nice white parents arguing on both sides. Just one side happened to be right about what “that community” wants and needs, and the other is not. And since the system listened to the families who usually have the least sway, the appropriate thing for PTAs to do was try to help the most vulnerable within their communities in getting their needs met while the schools and libraries were closed rather than ranting on a FB group to open now.

Forced back in? Virtual was and continues to be an option. And I think you need to check your stats because there are plenty of families of all colors and stripes who have enrolled in hybrid. No one was forcing anyone to put their kids in-person. Only one group forced everyone to stay locked out.

But no one in APE doxes teachers. Literally just checked what "founder" supposedly "admitted" on APE and he did not say that. I'm not surprised though, the SR crew is constantly spewing misinformation and cannot interpret data for shit. Remember that post 12% of kids that get covid are hospitalized? That poster walked it back somewhat but how could she possibly have believed that at all if she was reading credible sources. It's very easy to figure out who is behind ApeShit - FOIA whoever FOIA'd to see the who requested the FOIA on Mary. ApeShit posted it so they are the requestor or know the requester as does obviously the person who posted in AEM. And it's obviously one of the like 6 followers they have ---which was ALL SmartRestart/Mary's campaign. I just want to know what the hell Mary is hiding that she had to get out in front of her FOIAd emails and spin it? I'm guessing that she sent some email supporting going virtual or smartrestart. She's probably realizing how bananas those people are wants to distance herself.

I already said I don't support doxxing teachers, or anyone at all actually. I've seen no proof though other than your words that APE actually doxxed teachers, but definitely saw that Twitter account which revealed who FOIAed Mary's emails. But if in fact APE members did dox teachers, they're trash too.

Just look at the parents.

Interesting that the Twitter handle can be traced back to the Smart Restart group, from what I've read here. Yikes, and I recognize those followers as people who have been very active in the virtual and "safety" side of the school debate. I thought they were better than that. They certainly do hold themselves up as the do-gooders of Arlington.

That twitter account is anonymous. Can't be traced back to anyone. I'm a member of Smart Restart and I've never heard of it.

It's just APE trying to put shade on SR to distract from the fact that their awful recall campaign was exposed.

The twitter account went private this morning, probably due to the backlash here. It's very clear that someone from SR owned that account. Sorry you missed it. Someone upthread took screenshots of the Twitter page, so I'm sure it will resurface somewhere. Stay klassy, Arlington!

If you're still talking about the "achievement gap" rather than the opportunity gap, if you're equating standardized test scores with achievement, if you're ranting about deserving vouchers, and if you insist that the schools are closed, not that in-person instruction is limited, then you are a privileged jerk.

I don't belong to APE or SR, but the APE parents showed their entire asses on AEM. I don't need to see more.

In the debate over whether to make McKinley a choice school, she was full speed ahead on the argument that the west side of Arlington needed all these neighborhood seats. Reed, McKinley, Discovery, Tuckahoe, Nottingham...all needed as neighborhood schools. Supported and circulated honestly ridiculous boundary map proposals to support this.

Flash forward (after she is no longer the PTA president) and it seems to be widely acknowledged the data doesn't support this position. And it's not just some post-Covid reality shift, I don't believe the data ever supported it. What comes to pass is APS draws a kind of dumb and temporary boundary for Reed to preserve the possibility they can take Tuckahoe or Nottingham offline as a neighborhood school in 2 years.

Was she just completely blinded by the McKinley hysterical/self-interest crowd? It makes me worry she'd be a bad School Board member.

Please someone counter any of this if you are able to. Genuinely. I'd like to support her.

As the McKinley PTA president at the time, she had to try to preserve her school. After this year, it won't exist anymore, in name or facility.

I think the new boundaries will be voted on before the new candidate takes office. And yes, Tuckahoe and Nottingham (probably Tuckahoe though) isn't long for the world.

This does not make me feel better at all and I don't agree with the bold. In fact, I think if that's a person's mindset...loyalty to a group of people above logic...you are the WRONG person for the School Board.

For the record, not everyone in the McKinley community even agreed with the PTA position although it was not ever presented as such. Another red flag.

You know what's a red flag? Twice now during debates, Miranda has said that the school board budget has already passed. Except it hasn't - it is scheduled to be voted on in May. She doesn't even bother with that level of details? Seriously - if you believe that she's plugged into things at the right level of detail, then I guess you would be fine having a Board member who doesn't know what month it is and whether they have taken action on something yet. And it has happened twice now - which means nobody else who is helping her has pointed this mistake out to her. So I don't know whether she is busy planning summer vacations or what but if she can't be bothered to track whether the budget has passed during a campaign, or she can't be bothered to understand that there's a proposed budget and then there's an adopted budget later, then maybe she isn't cut out for the job.

You are conflating a whole bunch of different people and things. Smart Restart <> Mary's campaign.

On AEM:
1: ... explains how APE members were concerned about a plan to send screenshots of employees to school board ...
2 (founder): ... "I myself deleted a few posts I felt targeted teachers." ...

APE has Kadera's email messages - check in with them if you are concerned.

-Not part of the "SR crew" or anyone's campaign
