Someone mentioned the shoes earlier. When they were in the Rotunda, it is clear that the shoes are a problem. Ever notices how weird Nancy's walk is when she walks up to her pressers?
I think it is because high heels just do not work on marble floors. Dangerous. |
I loved it - thought it was a nod to the non-existent inaugural balls we are not getting this year. |
To be fair, Laura Bush’s MIL is known for wearing pearls, so could be a family thing. |
I do think that even for conservative women there is a sense of excitement and solidarity over the first woman VP. |

Past inauguration performers fashion...
Let's start with the best. More recently, Obama had Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, and James Taylor
The only other one I could find was an opera singer named Deyce Graves at the 2nd Bush inauguration

+1. I thought everything was flawless except Garth brooks’ pants were inappropriate and trying to make it about himself, and j lo’s performance was horrific and embarrassing. |
Looks dated. |

| Michelle Obama stole the show. And Hillary looked surpisingly fresh, you'd think she's similar in age to Trump's mail-order missus. |
| Vice-President Harris' two great nieces and their fierce animal print faux fur jackets - hands down best dressed. |
I love it. I love the texture, the subtle sequins, and the contrasting lapels. They look like velvet (bot sure if they are). I also loved the color of Kamala’s coat. I cannot believe they all wore heels! Their ankles must have been freezing. |
Funny: reading this, I thought you were going to go for "male" -- not race. I was imagining what Robert Frost might have said, had Oprah offered. |
It's definitely the high heels on the marble floor. I'm kind of surprised some of them don't stick that sandpaper-like tread stuff on the bottom of the soles. |
I liked it. Nice to see a quirky 21-year-old art student up there being herself in a sea of blown out hair and jewel tones. |
I was wondering if there was an agreement to wear purple/magenta. |
