In the scene, he didn’t seem drunk or impaired in any to me. |
The duke looks the same. Everyone else looks better in real life. Did production go out of their way to make the cast (except for the duke) look less attractive? |
This. It was trickery but not rape. |

I absolutely hated how they did Marina in the end. I really get they could’ve written that story better.
I was also so disappointed that they jumped ahead 9 mos for Daphne and Simon. |
I think it was the best outcome for Marina; her attempt to trap Colin failed and she was still pregnant. |
Her story was just too depressing for me. |
I guess I am thinking about the book. In the book he is clearly drunk because he is sad over their estrangement. |
It is definitely a little more blurry in the show. This being said, the burning dialogue they have prior to this in the hotel is awesome. It’s akin to the Bennett and Darcy proclamation. My thoughts are that Daphnes storyline is done and we will see more of the featheringtons. But I am more interested in Eloise. I am also thrilled they showed king george’s madness and the struggles Charlotte had with it. |
Yeah I think it was rape in the book (I haven't read it but based on what I have heard) but not in the movie. Same with Outlander. In Outlander the book it is very clearly rape. I think they were both written when romance novels were going through a "lack of consent is sexy" phase, and when the idea of men being raped wasn't really widely accepted. And I get that kink because some people think it's hot when somebody is so into you that nothing can stop them from "having you." But we have to acknowledge that it's still rape. Thank goodness stuff like what was in the books doesn't really fly today. |
How did it end with Marina? I don’t remember after the doctor said she was still pregnant. |
For sure. He was the most interesting brother to me. He also looks like a young Clive Owen. |
I assume she accepted the marriage offer from her child's uncle...she left with him. |
I didn’t remember that part. |
+1 to all of this. |
We see her ride away in the carriage looking very unhappy. |
