Bridgerton: new Netflix series

Thank goodness! He is soooo much better than that show! They completely decimated the essence of his personality in the end. Besides if his character is not the focus of the rest of the series, there’s really no reason to harness him to a bad soap opera caricature. You have to let stars soar.

I was thinking the same thing. Do we assume this was his decision and not the show’s decision?

Yes. What a jerk to refuse even a cameo in the show that made you a star.

There goes the show. They’re all like “we are so happy for him!!” YEAH RIGHT until the ratings tank.

That said most people say he’s a very nice guy.

Hopefully they won't give him the George McFly treatment from the Back to the Future sequels where all you see the back of a look-a-like actor's head. I think his on-screen love is still big part of the series, so it will be weird to always have to have an excuse for his absence at parties, etc.

I couldn't make it through the first episode and must be the only person on the planet who finds him decently attractive, but not really a heart throb or end all be all.

I wish I got it, because fans are having a blast!

I’m sure he’ll be fine. He has a huge following and relegating him to Shondaland melodrama does him a big disservice.

I mean, if you read the books, the Duke isn't really in the rest of the stories.

His acting on SNL was pretty awful, so hopefully that wasn't indicative.
I felt the same way when Jon Snow was on SNL. I loved him so much on GoT, and then saw him on SNL and was like "Hmmm...I'm not seeing much of a career future for him outside of the hot King in a cold land thing...."
I guess there's some people that can't adjust their acting that way, though -- maybe if you're a method actor, you can't really get into the improv skit vibe.

He was the only reason to watch the first one.

So on Reddit there is some evidence that it was always going to be just him doing one season. He signed on knowing his character would be in just one season.

This.

There’s a part of me that hopes his career flops.

Remember when that red headed actor shot to fame on some cop show and then left to pursue a movie career...and basically disappeared because everything flopped?

Shonda will find some other hot guys.

Well, he was basically a punch line, but then got that sweet CSI Miami gig, which was a total cash cow, so I think he got over it.

Why not?

Rege-Jean isn’t a good actor. He’s just a cute guy who played a steamy role.

Sam Heughan of Outlander fame was smart to stick with the show that made him famous as he shot movies during breaks. He can’t act either. He just has a great body and big fan base of frustrated house fraus.
