64 percent of Iowans say 'time for someone else' to hold Grassley's Senate seat: poll

Nearly two-thirds Iowa voters think Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) should not run for reelection, according to a new poll released Saturday.

According to the poll, conducted by Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa, 64 percent of respondents say they think it's time for someone new to hold Grassley's Senate seat.

Just 27 percent of respondents said that they would vote to reelect Grassley, 87, who has served in the Senate for over 40 years.


Eight percent said were unsure if they would vote for the Iowa senator, while 1 percent said they would not vote.

When responses were compared along party lines, 37 percent of Republicans said they think it's time for someone else to hold the seat, compared to 89 percent of Democrats and 68 percent of independents who said the same.

Yeah this race should be really interesting. I think Alaska has ranked choice voting now.

+1. My very Catholic, white working class Aunt (she’s a widow but her DH was a police officer) is a center right conservative, (not Trumpy). Goes to mass several times a week and takes abortion seriously. She *loves* “Timmy Ryan”.

She won a write in third party candidacy after she lost the primary past cycle, right? She a tough lady and have been strong on issues that matter to indigenous people. I won’t pretend to understand Alaska, but it seems like the kind of place where being more independent and not always toeing the party line is respected.
