Well policing might have had something to do with reducing homicides from 262 in 2002 to 88 in 2012, why is it headed for double that 2012 figure this year? |
I agree. They just fired a cop for shooting someone that was totally justified. Not a good time to be a patrol officer. If you can get out of patrol, now is the time. Also, firefighter/EMT jobs are going to become a lot more competitive! |
Good point. That should say the previous system of slavery in the US. There are other places in the world that still have slavery in various forms, and the US still has slavery in the form of the prison-industrial complex. We'd do well to abolish that as well. |
Glad you can see that you don't know. Look at research into what drives crime. Many other factors, not policing. |
Just saw gun fight in DC on TV in morning news under blue sky. Can we ask people not commit crime nicely? They may listen. |
Can we appropriately fund our social safety net? Provide people with opportunities so they have something better to do with their lives than shoot people? Thanks!! I'd love to. |
Are you ok with fully funding involuntary commitment? Maybe call your politician and say so. You sometimes fo have to force people to get help, pr they end uo in violent delusional altercations. |
For people who are a danger to themselves and others - that's not fully funded? |
This is completely false by the way -- there is overwhelming evidence that policing reduces crime, especially homicide. Whether it does so in a humane manner and the extent of reform needed is another question. |
