Good placement to Maryland, Catholic and Elon.

That’s it?

Several UVA
Several UPenn
Harvard
Dartmouth
Johns Hopkins
GW
Georgetown
Several Wake Forest
Several Naval Academy
West Point
Cornell
Villanova
Univ of Southern California
Duke
Boston College
RPI
Wash U. in St. Louis
Holy Cross
Clemson
Georgia Tech

Is that the all time list for Gonzaga, or just this year? Let’s be serious, Gonzaga’s not known for their academics.

It's definitely a multi-year list. Gonzaga college placement is nowhere near that good.

Sorry to disappoint all you haters, but this is a 2020 list - obviously not all of them, but still.

So, based on the Instagram posts, most of the upper-tier admissions were for sports:

Harvard: Lacrosse
WashU: Track
Penn: Crew
Penn: Football
Navy: Crew
Navy: Football
Navy: Lacrosse
Hopkins: Track
Wake: Football
Georgetown: Baseball
Georgetown: Swimming

If you take sports out, you have 2 Ivy admits, 1 Dartmouth and 1 Cornell, and 1 Duke admit. EVERY public school in Fairfax would beat those numbers, even adjusted for size.

And if you take "Full Pay" or "Legacy" out of GDS, things would be a little less impressive too.

NY Times published a piece about this about how universities started going to their waitlist earlier than ever this year to compensate for the above mentioned. I think it was published May 1.

That is why international undergraduate students should be significantly limited in American colleges. They take American kids spots, their parents never paid any taxes to US. They will not contribute to US society.

Private colleges can admit whomever they wish. Public schools usually have a state mandated minimum number of in-state students. Would you suggest that State universities only serve people from that state, or are OOS ok? if OOS is ok, then why not international? Universities are for exchange of ideas. Having people from all over the world on a campus is part of the attraction. Putting any sort of limits on how a school wants its student body to be comprised seems like a really bad idea.

First, I said undergrad international students should be limited. Graduate international students are fine. You still get the so called “exchange of ideas”
Second, OOS American students are different from international students. OOS’s parents pay taxes
Third, international undergraduate students only benefit the greedy universities.

Exactly! Oh so true, and embarrassing for them, but they don't seem to mind. How they relish their sense of entitlement and elitism like no one else.

NCS has an insta page, haven't seen an STA one.

Impressive students with impressive parents. Is something wrong with that? I see it as a virtuous cycle of intellectual challenge, achievement, and social impact. Sorry if that fails to impress you.

Public school kids also get admitted as athletic recruits. And Legacy. And First Gen. etc. The odds for unhooked students applying to top schools are slim for both private AND public school students.

At the same time, I'll be content as long as my son graduates from a college -- any college that isn't a scam or Liberty University -- and ends up an independent adult. If he goes the trade school route, that's good too. School is not his thing (although he gets As and Bs) and that's fine.

If he does get into Du-- I mean Michigan, great! But if he's not interested, also great. Just be able to make a living, kid.

This is exactly how I feel as well. I just want him to go to whatever school will be the best for whatever it is he wants to do.

I get it that most of us are cooped up at home and what not, right now, but that is damned creepy that you did this.

Agreeing to play a sport at a school/making the team/preferred walk on doesn’t mean the kid got an admissions boost.

Sidwell, Holton, and NCS have pretty impressive 2020 matriculation results. What are STA's results? Why are they not celebrating their seniors and their matriculations like everyone else?
Anonymous
The Instagram posts with matriculation result appear to be student-driven...and my observation is that boys are less likely to organize something like that.

Fake news. Down year over at STA. Crickets on social media. Normal year they are posting.
