If you have to ask, it’s not for you.

Let’s call an end to this thread, or start it over somewhere else. All this hs and Duke/Michigan bashing over so many pages. If you don’t have anything positive to add, why are you even logging in on here?

I would choose UM over Duke.

+1

U Michigan is excellent in many fields and more research plus athletic ops ...

All schools had unprecedented results due to universities going very deep into waitlists due to international admits deferring their Freshman spots. NY Times published a piece about this about how universities started going to their waitlist earlier than ever this year to compensate for the above mentioned. I think it was published May 1.

I love reading these threads. At the same time, I'll be content as long as my son graduates from a college -- any college that isn't a scam or Liberty University -- and ends up an independent adult. If he goes the trade school route, that's good too. School is not his thing (although he gets As and Bs) and that's fine.

If he does get into Du-- I mean Michigan, great! But if he's not interested, also great. Just be able to make a living, kid.

lol. this really true. if you were in he right social circle you would know where these kids are going. If not, STA doesn't want your kid anyway. .

Exactly! Oh so true, and embarrassing for them, but they don't seem to mind. How they relish their sense of entitlement and elitism like no one else.

STA publishes the list every Fall in their school magazine.

Same mindset here. Although I know a kid going to Grand Canyon University (for-profit mill) who is a valedictorian and I am shocked.

That is why international undergraduate students should be significantly limited in American colleges. They take American kids spots, their parents never paid any taxes to US. They will not contribute to US society.

Private colleges can admit whomever they wish. Public schools usually have a state mandated minimum number of in-state students. Would you suggest that State universities only serve people from that state, or are OOS ok? if OOS is ok, then why not international? Universities are for exchange of ideas. Having people from all over the world on a campus is part of the attraction. Putting any sort of limits on how a school wants its student body to be comprised seems like a really bad idea.
