Does anyone know why they didn’t/if they did go through a search to recruit a new Director? Or know if they are in the process? Did they/shouldn’t they have announced an interim, let families know they were going to conduct a search with a goal date for having someone new in place ? What’s the process?

If you are a Sidwell parent, wouldn’t you know this info? And if not, oh boy, what is going on at Sidwell? Where is the transparency?

If you’re a prospective parent, I’d try to ask someone in the know.

If you’re neither, why are you asking?

Sidwell parents know this answer - at least as it pertains to the remainder of the year.

They had an interim and hired her as permanent.

nope, not this group. this year’s senior parents are a cool bunch.

was this a no confidence vote in the new head of college counseling?
a case of burnout? it seems to me they should have a larger staff. i wish we knew more.

Why would they be burned out, having just started the job?

Emily wasn’t the Director of College Counseling

The person in question has been there several years, she didn't just start this year.

Do students get to see the letters that the CCO writes on their behalf?

No.

Why not?
Then how did people know about the counselor from last year who had errors in his letters?

They read what he wrote. Awful and painful.

Who is "they"?

Parents began to notice that in even routine communications, the counselor couldn’t write.

That was the former director’s big mistake, that he just dug in on this guy and ignored mounting concerns. The director instead should have acknowledged that the hire didn’t work out, make a change, and move on.

What makes you think SFS knew she was looking elsewhere until last week?

Because she actually resigned before Thanksgiving.

Clearly. But why? I know I have had encounters with the Assistant Head and she has flat out lied to me. Hos seems pretty strong, but I worry he listens to her too much.

What makes you think the PP is a "she"?

I'm guessing she was upset she didn't get the head job. Reflects poorly on her professionalism that she'd leave mid-year. Parents in this grade are very reasonable, truly don't think they're to blame this go around.

My understanding is that she was offered the top position last year and declined. So that wouldn’t be the reason for leaving mid-year.

The real tragedy of this is that Sidwell lost a smoking hot staff member. I enjoyed seeing her around campus.
