Are your ILs doing ok with money? I totally get that their eating habits are a generational thing, but just wondering if they are concerned with finances, to your knowledge. (They seem ok, btw, but how would I know.) |
Which publication??? |
My mother sometimes..I feel sad because I know how she feels about her own body. Gives her power/ego boost when she sees MO or overweight ppl like "At least I am not that big." Mind you, this woman is not portly, just could alleviate her diabetes by losing 20lbs, I think. Whew, I do not miss living with her weight obsession, it is sad. And she was a health professional, btw, not that that means she would be any more 'woke' or immune to poor self-image. But this is sooooo dangerous when you have daughters. My goodness, I hope to have at least one daughter so I can raise a young woman differently, with positive body messages. |
+1. I had an ED in my teens (nothing to do with my mom-she had no body image issues). One of my main motivators to be healthy, fit, and strong vs. skinny and obsessed with weight is to be a positive role model for my daughters. |
You should put on the weight now, especially if you are white and prone to winkle. Also lifting weights helps with muscle tone. |
| How about "They out walking their dogs all the time?" |
and they klss them in the mouth. |
no no no.. you don't get it PP.. one of the reasons why those ladies are so wealthy is that they don't spend money on food! Marrying rich is one thing, maintaining wealth is another! Imagine.. if a non wealthy woman spends 20 bucks a day on food.. and a skinny old wealthy lady spends 7 bucks.. that is savings of 13 bucks! now calculate it in a lifetime?.. 1 day - saved 13 bucks 10 days - saved 130 bucks 30 days = month - saved 390 bucks.. so that is almost 400 bucks a month for the sake of our calculation 12 months - 400 One year 12 months x 400 bucks = circa 5000 bucks.. So there.. it is 5K savings a year! 10 years - 50K 20 = 100K 30 = 150K 40= 200K 45= 250K so you see?.. you can have a house for that in a lifetime! Next time you see a skinny wealthy lady, bow in amazement, she is not only skinny, but she is a gigantic money saver! |
| My Grandma. Smh. Every. Single. Day. Oatmeal for breakfast plain and rolled oats. Lunch a hard boiled egg and a banana and dinner was plain chicken breast ( only half), brown rice and a steamed vegetable. No seasoning or butter. No juice ever or junk or snacking. No food after 5. She was always thin. She told me that if I got fat, my knees would hurt and I would need knee replacement. |
Healthy food is more expensive than cheap fattening food. |
So tiresome. You can eat very well cheaply especially if your portion sizes are small. I ate extremely healthy and all from Aldi in college. |
And minimize meat and dairy, which adds up. |

Have we already talked about old white wealthy women and cottage cheese? A scoop of cottage cheese & a half a grapefruit was my grandma's daily lunch ration.
Last time I visited my sister, I saw cottage cheese in her fridge!! She's on that train now. White women keep the cottage cheese industry going. Very economical. |
That's true I live near Leisure World and the old couples have much more in their carts than the single seniors - especially the women. |
DH and I are in our late 30’s and love cottage cheese. But we eat plenty, trust me. |
