How do old wealthy women stay so skinny?

Such a sad life goal. Women are beautiful at many sizes. It’s about being happy.

Tom Wolfe called these women “social x-rays.” Perfect term.

My MIL has always been like this. I bet there are only a handful of times in her adult life where she's eaten more than 1,200 calories a day. Most days, she probably eats about half of that. She also smoked cigarettes regularly for most of her life and drank at least ten cups of black coffee every day when she was younger. She has serious health problems now and no longer smokes because of that, but she still restricts her calories. There is never any food in her house except for nonfat cottage cheese, broccoli, and some fruit. My FIL sneaks out to restaurants pretty regularly to get a steak and I don't blame him.

OP here: I totally believe this, and from what I gather in this area women eat very small portions. It is the maintenance of this diet that seems really difficult. Like how these older women don‘t just start bingeing one day because their bodies need more. But maybe it’s not as hard to maintain as I think.

If they’re not eating and they’re not exercising, why aren’t they all bent over from osteoporosis?!?

My MIL has tons of expired food in her fridge and pantry. I was unlucky enough to discover pasta from 2004. I think that she keeps expired food in the fridge as a deterrent.

She consumes all of her calories via white wine and Ketel One. She’s got that persistent throat clearing thing going on too.

She claims to work out but I never see her in workout gear. She is always commenting on people’s bodies, what they’re eating, what she thinks they have been eating, ugh she is exhausting.

That is effed up. Some women actually think like that.

This is my MIL and I wrote this and yes, she was F up, in a major way. Kinda of Gray Gardens life, sad to be a part of that ....

Maybe she was happy and this made her feel good. Life choices. This was her choice.

Borderline ED over here (as I assume a vast majority of women are). You just get used to it. And frankly I think people generally eat way more calories than necessary (including me, most of the time).

From what I observe with my mom and her friends, it really isn’t a huge burden for them. They don’t obsess about food or talk about how they’d love a bowl of pasta, they just eat a boiled egg, a banana and a piece of toast and call it a day.

Like, literally.

They're smokers.
They got to be old because they don't eat much (fat people die younger).
They have some other issue where they don't get enjoyment from eating.
They exercise.
It's easier on the body to have to digest less when you are old.
Youthful hormones that made them plump and curvy are long gone.

How does she not pass out?

Because she is wealthy. We covered this already.
