You obviously don't know George, he's an awesome coach. |
A couple things: 1. At least you are coming around to the fact that you are going to have to drive a lot now. 2. Do you really think a college coach cares about your team or it’s record? If your kid is playing 80% of the time on a good team great. But, if your kid is more in the sub realm of 20-40% playing time then what is the point? Why would a parent have their kid in that spot? Because the team is good? Because the training is good? And if a kid after 2-3 years can’t crack the starting lineup then how good was the training and the environment after all? The player can wait for their turn after the starters have soaked up all the meaningful showcase minutes and the couple of coaches that came to see her left before she saw the field, but hey “THEY won!” and the TSJ is worth the drive. I’m not saying anything here to challenge you because I really don’t care about your kid. I hope that she is happy and I hope that she gets out of the game what she hoped to. |
Clearly a parent or coach from another team who thinks it is necessary to constantly put down this team? Why don't we talk about the fact that everyone on their graduating team will be playing college soccer? |
SO... there is a big Catch 22 here. For the ENTIRE YEAR this forum has been criticizing WS for bloated rosters and carrying players who weren't "DA level." Now we're criticizing the new MU for trying to fix the problem and cutting "known players." Will they pick up a ton of "amazing" players? Probably not. But 1-2 adds in the right positions, coupled with shedding the problems could make a big difference. Don't leave your club if your DD is getting what she wants and playing a lot and getting better. But also just stop with the double-edged sword of criticizing other clubs for trying to create a solid environment for solid players who do want to be there. Just vote with your feet and shut up. |
Agree. I have kids at FCV and Metro United. I want both clubs to succeed, as I want my kids to continue to have options as they get older. This bashing of other clubs is immature and really discourages parents from wanting their kids to play at your club. With the ever-growing population in the area, we will need options at high level soccer. There are very talented kids who are staying at Metro United. On the flip side, if my kid loves FCV and is thriving, then I will keep her there. I also hope that FCV keeps field space in Loudoun. So, please keep comments positive and informative. I am hoping that George and Spencer will keep their word and have small rosters. If so, success may follow, or not. But, I know the kids will do their best. |
| So metro united has made offers but hasnt formerly said who is coaching each age group? Where is that information? That will impact our decision. |
I would reach out directly to George, as coaching assignments were still being decided at time of last conversation. Regardless, George will be involved in some fashion at every age group and we have found him to be an excellent coach who is very positive with the kids and gives constructive feedback. |
But they are “very technical coaches” according to the parents. I don’t know what that means but it apparently sells $3600 tickets. |
Precisely why we aren't committing before knowing the coaches or having and idea of the players accepting. We have asked btw but no answer yet. |
FCV made offers and never said they were being sold. |
I'm just wondering what koolaid everyone is drinking as we have heard "coaches coming soon", "partner clubs coming soon", "roster coming soon". But yes trust us? They have told us nothing. Sounds like a well thought out plan, but next year is going to be amazing? People must set their expectations pretty low which is shocking at the cost. |
No different than believing that Evergreen will be The Jimmy’s DA location for three years. Between parents fighting and coaches withholding the sale of a club until after sign ups, I’m sure The Jimmy is the top destination and will survive in its current form. |
| I am out. As a parent who has had kids playing travel soccer in this region for 12 years, I was trying to give some actual information, but apparently the types of people who have moved into this area are such complete jerks, that it makes no difference. All of you who are so negative have obviously never played any competitive sports in your life except for may be tee-ball when you were 6 years old. As someone who played through college and had great coaches and lousy coaches, I know a good coach when I see one. If George has the talent on the team, he will be successful. I hope you enjoy living vicariously through your children who hopefully will be much better people when they grow up than you. |
You will be fine, don't worry. Wouldn't you rather have better competition to play next year anyway? |
What an exit! clap clap clap. So tell us what team your DD really plays for. |
