A couple of us countered with point by point refutations of his historical "facts." Some of the posters were quite learned in their ancient history.

He so dependably appeared every December to spread his message, we gave him the nickname Groundhog. No sign of Groundhog last December, however. Am slightly sad about this.

Our old friend Groundhog! Those were fun times. Osiris’ penis fell off, he got a new gold prosthetic, and that’s supposedly the source of the Christmas story. I, too, wondered where Groundhog was last year. I presume s/he’s still around, starting the weekly, hostile “Christians answer me this” threads.

Brings back memories of the Atheist Haters.

Groundhog was definitely atheist. But we did not hate him/her. We simply wanted him/her to be more critical of the sources he/she used and rely more on academic literature instead of out there atheist websites with questionable theories based on unsupported facts. We criticized his/her history, not his/her beliefs or person.

As I recall, at one point the small group of us posting responses compared notes on each other and at least one of us was atheist.

Sorry for all the his/her but compensating in light of a previous comment. For some reason I always pictured Groundhog as a he.

ITA. Groundhog was fun, and nothing rose to the level of hatred. Groundhog just made it too easy to play with him/her. I remember another Groundhog thread that tried to slam Christians for “worshipping” their Christmas trees, because said worship would not have been monotheistic. Another poster cooly replied, “I don’t know about your family, but in our family we don’t worship our Christmas tree.” Plus all the discussions about how the Mithras legend spread well after Christ’s birth satisfied my history itch.

We need a nickname for the Anti- Kate poster who goes on. And on about how she doesn’t work. And then posts spreadsheets and the like to support her views

+1. Go back to pages 12 and 13. Already discussed. I so agree with you!

"I'm going to guess you're not even intelligent enough to detect the irony in your comment."

THIS ONE. Always saying that others aren't "intelligent enough" for whatever. Someone on another thread called her Sanctimommy. That is good but I think this creature needs something else!

Honestly, I think we more need a nickname for the weird Kate super fan who insists every post about Kate that is not borderline Kate fangirl fiction is from "the anti-Kate troll." She has been told many times that there are multiple posters, she has been encouraged to report actual sock puppets (which are rarely deleted because as it turns out there is not a single sock puppet), and yet she insists there is this single poster.

I am not sure if she's the Royal We poster or Kate's Best Mom Friend, but if not those I suggest we call her Imaginary Troll Stalker.

Are YOU the meh poster?

Did anyone reference the person who comes into every thread about perfume/scents/migranes. She needs a name.

No. But I was tempted to respond to your question with ... Meh

Usually people earn a nickname after Jeff has confirmed they've started X threads. There is research that has to be done.

- a nice & warm wife

The site owner outs people?!? Why?
