Yes it’s often easier for us to “hide” our identity, but not always so. It also remains dangerous for us to do things like wear a Star of David. We remain more likely to be a victim of a hate crime than any other religious group, as well as black people.

Yes, what you say is true....unfortunately. People do diminish antisemtitism when they lop us in as "just white" (with the unspoken implication that we gain by "white privilege") when in fact we are often immediately recognized as being Jewish - and vulnerable to antisemtitic sentiments which are, sadly, on the increase.

The scary thing about your story with the Russian cab driver is not that he so easily "made" your father as a Jew, but that he felt no need to hide his contempt.

BTW, your mention of the antisemtitsm you experienced at Georgetown? There's a BIG increase in anti-Jewish sentiment on college campuses nationwide, some of it, I imagine, due to the BDS movement. Here's a brief article in case you're interested:

Thanks for posting that. Yeah, it’s really a huge problem. I’m not sure how to combat it, either, especially given who we have in office right now.

Who said it’s ok to ascribe acts of terror to the larger Muslim community? Also, with the exception of Bibi, none of those people did their crimes in the name of Judaism.
