Is the UVA and Charlottesville brand damaged forever?

And Ted Cruz graduated from Harvard. Guess if you go to Harvard you automatically become a pro-life crusader who cheats on their spouse.

You are deflecting. Ted Cruz (Harvard JD but Princeton undergrad) had nothing to do with Charlottesville. Jason Kessler, a UVA undergraduate, did. And Richard Spencer graduated from UVA as well. That is just fact. How do you go from that narrow fact to "guess if you go to Harvard you automatically become a pro-life crusader who cheats on their spouse"?

Is a university to be judged by one or two or a small handful of alums?

Every school has alums that are terrible people. UVA has more than a hundred thousand alums and you’re judging the school by the actions of a few of them?

And I stand by that comment. Unless you can show there's something about UVA that contributes to the likes of Richard Spencer and Jason Kessler holding those views, aside from the coincidental fact that they happened to go to school there?

Can we therefore just say that UVA is the Harvard of the mid Atlantic and shut down this thread already! Is it just me or does it feel like most dcum threads end up getting derailed by posters going on about how selective it is and giving advice on how to get in. Perhaps there should be a separate college forum for VA state schools and one for the rest of us?
