You can't simultaneously claim it's NBD for babies -- especially without anesthesia -- and then make a huge deal about how difficult and impossible it is for adult men. Pick a lane.

This!

Exactly! I’m very protective against unnecessary (painful!) medical procedures for my baby.

When that baby grows up to be a man it will be his decision to undergo painful procedures, be it tattoos, piercings or genital mutilation. Why do you feel entitled to make those decisions for your sons?

Because we are his parents.

Lovely for you to make that decision about his penis.

Circumcision makes no sense. It simply doesn't.

I find uncircumcised men dirty, as do a lot of women. it's just putting your son in a position where his peers and lovers may question the whole thing...

You sound ridiculously ignorant. Like the kind of person who would think black ppl are dirty because their skin is dark. Ew!

It IS less clean, that’s not debatable. Uncircumcised penises are more prone to fungus infections STD etc bc harder to keep clean. That’s where the tradition comes from!

Yes, but only because the men were in a war zone! Tonsils can be prone to infection, too, but we no longer routinely remove them.

+2. Genital mutilation is genital mutilation. It's just a cultural norm here.

You're wrong, and you're undermining what FGM really is. Sad you don't have sufficient critical thinking skills to think beyond your black and white absolutism.

At GW our ob recommended based on the dad as that’s what the kid will be seeing and growing up with. My husband is not circumcised, white upper middle class family so we decided against it. Of course child will be learning good hygiene from dad. And I don’t care about what others do. But to the women insulting men who are not circumcised, you’re all disgusting people (more so than the penises you claim to hate).

This is true. There is no reason to circumcise now. Cosmetic and culture. A cruel thing to do to a baby.

Yes, but we’re Muslim and have the same religious requirement.

How is it cruel? Anesthesia is used. I don't care if you do it or not, but fail to see how it can be described as cruel.

It would hurt like hell for a long time to have the glans exposed.

Maybe some people just don't want to bathe and practice proper personal hygiene?
