Skin complexion actually proves my point more...in a way, you don't understand. Again, HISTORICALLY, biracial children have been accepted into the black community. Mainly because we had no choice. They were slaves right alongside "full" black people.

I think the pp is missing the HISTORICALLY part. You know, after the white men raped their black slaves and left them with child. That child was considered to be black not "biracial" or "choose your side"...unless they could pass, but you better not get caught.

I have plenty of black friends - of all skin tones - and they would NOT agree with you. I've seen heated debates about skin tone. high yellow, anyone?

What Wikipedia entries have you been reading?

Wrong. Historically, black people have always accepted biracial people as their own. The idea that we are somehow new to the concept of a biracial person (given our history in the US and how we all have "white in our family" somewhere) is laughable. WHITES are the ones who have historically shunned biracial people. Don't try to flip the switch and pretend you have always been the enlightened and accepting ones.

I'm the 17:36 biracial poster who disagreed with PP's first post, but she's right on this one.

Stop saying the playing field is not level. It's not easy being white either. White people have to work and pay their dues and often times are passed over in hiring and promotions because companies want to balance their demographics.

In many if not most cases when two candidates black and white who are equally qualified the job will go to the black candidate. Blacks got cheated out of their wealth and their legacies. They deserved to benefit from Affirmative Action, but the time has come to stop claiming they are victims today.

Chris Rock told an audience that no regular white people would trade places with him even though he is rich and famous.

Well, it Chris Rock says it, it must be true.

But don't many AA kids get picked on bullied by other AA kids if they aren't black/dark enough?

Some do. And some get picked on for being too dark. It goes both ways. Slavery has some very harsh consequences. The skin complexion mindfuck is one of them.

As stated by Walter Williams, "In sports, when have you heard a coach explain or excuse a black player's poor performance by blaming it on a "legacy of slavery" or on that player's being raised in a single-parent household? When have you heard sports standards called racist or culturally biased? I have yet to hear a player, much less a coach, speak such nonsense. In fact, the standards of performance in sports are just about the most ruthless anywhere. Excuses are not tolerated.

Stop making excuses.

Mr. Williams was spot on.

Oh give it a rest. No one on this board was a slave and no one on this board owned slaves. At some point, you have to quit making excuses for choices made today. See reference to Walter Williams above.

18:23, nowhere do I blame white people. Nowhere.

What am I doing? I'm raising my black children to be educated and responsible members of society. The same as most parents who want the best for their children, regardless of race.

So answering a question equals making excuses? Gotcha, Sparky.

What I take away from these is spdiscussions is that we will have racial tension until the end of humanity.

Black man here,
If I had ever mentioned slavery as an excuse for my behavior or outcomes, my dad would've beat the shit out of me (like a slave). That excuse is tired and when I hear it, I immediately write that person off because I know that whatever happens in their life, they will do absolutely nothing to make it better. These are not the type of people that I like to work, play, or associate with.

I agree. Blame the white man. They introduced the concept of race and it's a bit difficult to erase hundreds of years of manipulation.
