I've seen plenty of black and Hispanic families move away b/c of the "element." There's an Hispanic family in our 'hood, which is mainly all white, who refused to send her son to the local school in Silver Spring. There's another wealthy community down the road which is mainly populated by wealthy minorities. In my daughter's former school - a small private, a black family refused send their kids the to local public b/c the education simply wasn't "good enough." If you have the money, you have the means. Money attracts money. |
Stop saying the playing field is not level. It's not easy being white either. White people have to work and pay their dues and often times are passed over in hiring and promotions because companies want to balance their demographics.
In many if not most cases when two candidates black and white who are equally qualified the job will go to the black candidate. Blacks got cheated out of their wealth and their legacies. They deserved to benefit from Affirmative Action, but the time has come to stop claiming they are victims today. |
Have you even been to Africa? Africans aren't making money off their natural resources, save a few. The oil is Shell's. the well-off people in Sub-Saharan Africa are whites and, more recently, Asian. Spectacular savannahs won't feed you, unless you're talking about hunting wildlife. If you think most African soil is fertile for modern agriculture, you're either ignorant or an idiot. 40% of the continent is desert, about 5% jungle. Barren future' for Africa's soil Africa's farmland is rapidly becoming barren and incapable of sustaining the continent's already hungry population, according to a report. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4860694.stm |
Chris Rock told an audience that no regular white people would trade places with him even though he is rich and famous. |
This is not just with minorities. How many DCUM'ers come from Hicksville? |
Honestly, I believe his "choice" had to do with the fact that he wouldn't have had the AA vote otherwise. I read his bio and don't remember any black influences in his upbringing before he went to college. And then - for a man back then it would have been social suicide to attempt to befriend black colleagues as a self-identified biracial person. |
You're delusional. As you look around your company, take note of how many minorities are in supervisory/managerial positions. Take a look at those who are on your Board of Directors and/or those who hold Executive positions in your company. I'm willing to bet that the blacks in your company are in administrative roles. We are overrepresented there, not so much when it comes to positions that involve the title Manager/Director/VP, EVP, etc. BTW, do some research on how blacks who are college educated are unemployed at a great percentage to similarly educated white people. Also look up how white FELONS are hired at a greater rate than non-felon blacks. Then take a look around DCUM and see how many judge resumes by the names on them. |
White men have the power to rape entire villages of women, kill their men, destroy and pillage their land and then clean it up as if they rescued the people from bad living conditions. Then on the other side of the world, white men have the power to corrupt and destroy the entire financial system, start wars and profit off of them, make a killing off of their financial corruption, and then laugh about how you are so focused on the evil black man who shot his neighbor. But you are right. Everyone has power. |
Yes, this is completely confirmed by research. |
Wrong. Historically, black people have always accepted biracial people as their own. The idea that we are somehow new to the concept of a biracial person (given our history in the US and how we all have "white in our family" somewhere) is laughable. WHITES are the ones who have historically shunned biracial people. Don't try to flip the switch and pretend you have always been the enlightened and accepting ones. |
what?
I have plenty of black friends - of all skin tones - and they would NOT agree with you. I've seen heated debates about skin tone. high yellow, anyone? What Wikipedia entries have you been reading? Wrong. Historically, black people have always accepted biracial people as their own. Skin complexion actually proves my point more...in a way, you don't understand. Again, HISTORICALLY, biracial children have been accepted into the black community. Mainly because we had no choice. They were slaves right alongside "full" black people. |
My response got screwy:

I've lost credibility?
Did I not blame society? Blame whites all you like. That's fine. I'm not arguing that case. I am simply asking YOU what YOU are doing about the problem in that community? How often are YOU volunteering in school to read to kids? How often are YOU mentoring a troubled kid? If you're not helping, you're part of the problem. At this point, who gives a crap about the root of the problem? What? Will you try to change the racist to fully embrace a colorful society? doubtful But you CAN work in other ways. And maybe you do. I don't know you. And keep in mind that you don't know me either. But for some reason, I do think I may know a lot more about troubled kids than you do. fine by me . . . By quoting prison stats, you've lost ALL credibility. You claim to understand urban youth, yet you fail to understand the discrimination that exists in the judicial system (as it relates to arrests and sentencing). If you don't understand WHY minorities are overrepresented in the prison system, you are without help. I'd suggest you do some research and report back. I can't debate you if you don't know the basics of what we're discussing. |
But don't many AA kids get picked on bullied by other AA kids if they aren't black/dark enough? |
